HCDC Joins Global Representatives on Climate Resilience and Sustainable Living Discussion

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – August 3, 2026 — Holy Cross of Davao College ( ) participated in the International Course on Multiculturalism and Humanity 2026 (ICOMUH 2026) commenced at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), bringing together participants from different countries to deepen their understanding of climate resilience, sustainability, and international cooperation.

Overall, the inaugural day of ICOMUH 2026 successfully combined academic discussion with experiential learning, offering participants valuable insights into the interconnected challenges of climate change, disaster resilience, water security, and sustainability. Representing HCDC, the delegation—composed of Ms. Lorelie Vern M. Cabunilas (BSED-2), President of the Sodality of Aspiring Science Educationalists; Mr. Modather B. Lintangi (BSSW-3), PIO of Muslim Students for Peace and Solidarity; and Ms. Lulu A. Melchor-Cayon, Coordinator of the Institute of ASEAN-European Studies—actively engaged throughout these key sessions. HCDC’s participation in ICOMUH 2026 is funded by the Center for Internationalization.

Day 1 of ICOMUH directly addressed several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): lectures on disaster response and water security underscored Climate Action (SDG 13), Sustainable Cities (SDG 11), Clean Water (SDG 6), and Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16), while the field visit highlighted Responsible Consumption (SDG 12) and Life on Land (SDG 15).

This event recognizes the dedication and hard work of individuals and organizations who continue to inspire positive change within the HCDC community.

Alhamdulillah, MSPS is honored to receive the 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐃𝐕𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐂𝐘 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃. This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts, dedication, and unwavering commitment of every officer, member, and supporter who contributed to making our advocacy initiatives impactful and meaningful. All praise belongs to Allah ﷻ for this blessing and opportunity to serve.

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh! ✨

Alhamdulillahil-ladhi bini'matihi tatimmus salihat.

With the guidance and mercy of Allah ﷻ, we have successfully reached the end of the second semester of School Year 2025–2026. Through His endless blessings, the Muslim Students for Peace and Solidarity (MSPS) was able to organize, participate in, and support various programs and activities dedicated to serving the Muslim student community and promoting unity, peace, and beneficial knowledge.

This portfolio reflects the collective efforts, dedication, and sincerity of every member and officer who worked with the intention of seeking the pleasure of Allah and serving the Ummah. Every accomplishment is a reminder that with tawakkul, teamwork, and sincere intentions, great things can be achieved by the permission of Allah.

As we look back on this semester, we pray that Allah ﷻ accepts all our deeds, forgives our shortcomings, grants barakah in our efforts, and allows us to continue being a means of goodness and benefit to others.

"And say, 'Do [as you will], for Allah will see your deeds, and [so will] His Messenger and the believers.'" (Qur'an 9:105)

May Allah make the knowledge we have gained beneficial, keep our intentions sincere, and grant us success in this life and in the Hereafter. Ameen. 🤲🏻
