Filipino Remote Copywriters

Filipino Remote Copywriters Community for Filipino copywriters around the globe. HISTORY

Back in 2018, I felt that something was missing in my life and my career.

We are more than just a group of Filipinos who are passionate about the art of persuasive and impactful communication. At Filipino Remote Copywriters (FRC), we are a community dedicated to empowering content professionals by providing a safe space for sharing ideas, finding opportunities, and building relationships. CORE VALUES & MISSION

Here at FRC, our mission lies in creating a healthy and po

sitive environment where transparency is practiced and people’s voices are amplified and heard. Whether that’s a job post, a query on upskilling, or an ask for thoughts regarding your work, we don’t restrain our community members’ opinions and/or concerns. I also believe that conversations focusing on attained milestones and faced challenges hold significantly greater value in nourishing our community members. So rather than focusing on irrelevant issues, let’s lean towards discussing things that actually matter and that we can control. That then prompted me to join communities in Davao, which back then was mostly about tech. In no time, I also saw myself creating a space where copywriters like me can gather to get support and feedback. But during that time, FRC wasn’t FRC just yet. Originally called “Davao Copywriters”, this was initially meant for my fellow copywriters from Davao. Time went on and I realized how valuable that move was, not only for me but for the copywriters’ population here in the Philippines. So, I made the decision to rename Davao Copywriters to its name today, Filipino Remote Copywriters, to cater to a broader scope of potential members. Since then, the numbers have been growing, which to me is so fulfilling for we get to have the opportunity to help more of those in the same career field. A place where we contribute towards each other’s growth, lift one another. and impart knowledge to those who are starting and continuing to learn—that is, and will always be, what Filipino Remote Copywriters is. The White Cat
by Tricia Hingpit

Minutes have already passed since I opened this draft on my laptop, but I haven’t written a single sentence.

The muffled sounds don’t lull me into a siesta, unlike my brother, Tristan.. I can tell that he’s sleepy.

Here in my room, I can hear the noontime show playing on our TV outside. The show is currently on their stupid celebrity-name-guessing segment.

The muffled sounds don’t lull me into siesta, unlike my brother, Tristan.

Every time a contestant gives a wrong answer, I can hear his weak chuckle. I can tell that he’s sleepy.

My right knee is shaking. Why did I have that cup of coffee again? Right. I need to finish this screenplay about a magical cat.

Minutes have already passed since I opened this draft on my laptop but I haven’t written a single sentence.

All I get are these hazy visions of cats and rain—endless rain, and white cats.

I don’t even know that much about cats; I never had a cat. But what the hell, I should finish this by Wednesday. The producer of this short film we’re making is driving me nuts with her nagging.

Right, before I start writing, I should tell my brother—just in case he looks for me later when he wakes up.

He got injured from a basketball game two weeks ago. Doctor said he should be well by now, but he’s been really sluggish these days.

“Tristan?”

Strange. He’s not here. The TV’s still on, but he’s nowhere in sight. He couldn’t have gone outside. It’s starting to drizzle.

Maybe he’s in the bathr—wait…

What’s this?

There’s a cat on the couch, sleeping peacefully. I can’t help but stare at it. It has a white coating that glows despite the gloomy lighting in our living room.

Oh. Look. It’s awake now… It half-opens its amber eyes and stretches its limbs. The cat notices me and starts to look at me intently.

It opens its mouth.

“Hi, Geneva.”

I gasped loudly. What the f**k? This cat just spoke to me.

I rubbed my eyes and pinched my arms to check if I was dreaming. I wasn’t. I’m here.

“You look surprised again, Geneva.”

“Did you… Did you just speak now?”

“He’s not here anymore, Geneva.”

“Wh-who? Where’s Tristan?”

“You have to move on now, Geneva.”

“No… What do you mean? Go away!”

“Head injury, Geneva.”

“Shut up!!!”

I slowly backed away from the cat while it continued to hold me in its gaze.

“He never made it to the hospital.”

“Go away!”

I need… Oh God… Where’s my coffee?

I need… I need to have a cup of coffee right now.

Thy Will Be Heard
by Sarah Jane Cea

I can’t see dead people. But I can feel them. Hear them. Smell them.

We’ve been organizing these activities, but I only agreed to this advanced party now.

“We’re finally here!”

Kate’s happy tone didn’t mask the creepy heaviness of the retreat house.

We’ve been organizing these activities, but it’s only now that I agreed to this advanced party.

Scared and flawed, I was called to lead lost souls closer to Him as a ministry leader.

It’s already 3 pm—the perfect time to cleanse the place.

A copy of Jericho Walk, a bottle of holy water, and a pack of blessed salt were
distributed to us.

“Precious blood of Jesus cast the devil away...”

We walked in line, uttering prayers while sprinkling salt and water in the halls and
the bedrooms.

When we reached the corridors near the secluded, eerie garden, our strong prayers turned into nervous whispers.

My friends and I were separated too far from each other.

Something was stopping us from walking and speaking.

That early afternoon turned into ice-cold darkness.

Loud guttural growls mocked us and repeated ambiguous Latin phrases.

“Do not feed them fear. Shout your prayers, guys!”

That’s James!

I can hear his faint Our Father and shouted it too at the top of my lungs.

A deafening silence followed, fading into darkness as light emerged.

But in an instant, everything was pitch black.

Louder, haunting growls followed, and a foul-smelling odor surrounded me.
I do not see them, but many are on my far right.

Some are at the back, one is closing in on my left, and more are coming towards me.

I looked at my holy water and blessed salt—they were all gone.

Before cold gripping hands choked me, I quietly uttered “deliver us from evil...”

He didn’t answer, and all I heard was more laughter from the enemy.
Clairsentience—that’s what they call it.ut it too at the top of my lungs.

Balikbayan
by Samantha Nicole Luable

may katamtamang laki.

by Mekaella M. Aguila

Whatcha Cravin' For?
by Mariaenne Cris Arcos

I was craving Chinese food.

I wanted to go out, but then decided against it. It was too hot to even be moving.

The slightest movements made me sweat buckets. I sat on the sofa. I thought about last week, how Chase and I fought.

He didn’t like me talking to other guys. I told him he was being paranoid. We got into a shouting match.

We even went far; we were throwing things around the house. It was messy. Took me at least two days to clean up the mess.

I told him I was sorry. He never said a thing, though I knew he understood my point. The way his eyes looked said everything.

I went downstairs to the basement.

The heat was unbearable, but down here was cooler. I reached the bottom of the stairs and went to my chest freezer.

I had to cook something. I was starving. And this is where I kept my meats so they don’t spoil. The freezer had better temperature settings than my fridge upstairs.

I opened the freezer door, and I saw Chase looking up at me with sorry eyes.

I took his hands, smiled, and thought, “I’m gonna make a mean stir-fry out of these.”
