March marks the celebration of Women’s Month—a time to honor the strength, resilience, and inspiring achievements of women across the universe.

In this celebration, the Mindanao Migrants Center for Empowering Actions, Inc. IN PHOTOS: International Migrants’ Day 2025 🌎✈️🛳️

The Mindanao Migrants Center for Empowering Actions, Inc. (MMCEAI) commemorated the 2025 International Migrants’ Day (IMD) on December 15, 2025, at San Pablo Parish, Juna Subdivision, Matina, Davao City.

The event brought together members of MMCEAI’s community migrants’ associations and children of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from its ten (10) partner barangays. The celebration was also attended and supported by MMCEAI’s partner organizations, including the Owwa Rwo XI Davao and its OFW Family Circle, the OFW Families' Welfare and Crisis Center Davao City, and Stella Maris Davao through the Mary Star of the Sea Seafarers’ Family Association.

This year’s International Migrants' Day celebration was packed with activities and opportunities for learning and engagement. The first part of the program focused on informative sessions covering Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), the realities of sea-based migration, and other cross-cutting migration issues. These discussions were essential not only in commemorating International Migrants’ Day but also in providing a space to highlight the lived realities and social causes of migration.

In the afternoon, the event went beyond knowledge-sharing and became a venue for skills development for OFWs and their left-behind families. A 3D art-making activity was facilitated for the children of OFWs, offering them an opportunity to bond with their peers while using art as a medium to better understand and appreciate the impact of migration on their lives.

For the adults, a rag-making workshop was also conducted. This activity proved beneficial for OFWs and their families as it introduced an additional livelihood skill that may be used in pursuing small-scale business opportunities.

Overall, the celebration was rich in learning and skills enrichment. More importantly, it served as a reminder that advocacy for migrants and their families should not end with a one-day celebration. International Migrants’ Day calls on all stakeholders to further strengthen efforts to protect migrants, ensure safe and dignified migration, and safeguard the well-being of the families they leave behind.

We also thank AWO International Southeast Asia and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration XI for their generous support in making this event a success.

International Migrants’ Day 2025 | My Great Story: Cultures and Development 🌎

The experience of every migrant is a story of hope, courage, and resilience.

The Mindanao Migrants Center for Empowering Actions, Inc. (MMCEAI), honor the real stories and the lives of migrants and their families in celebration of the 2025 International Migrants' Day.

The commemoration highlighted not only the personal journeys of migrants but also the social realities and systemic challenges they face—such as violence against women and children (VAWC), the complexities of migration across different contexts, and the social issues that affect migrants and their left-behind families. These stories remind us that migration is not just about movement; it is shaped by broader social conditions, inequalities, and challenges that impact migrants, their families, and communities.

As we reflect on these narratives, let us continue to advocate for migrants, support their families, and work together to ensure migration is safer, fairer, and truly empowering for all.

Today, we celebrate the 77th International Human Rights Day, a day that reminds us that human rights are inalienable, universal, and for everyone.

On this day, let us stand together to uphold human rights for all, especially for those in the most vulnerable sectors, including our migrants and their left-behind families who often face discrimination, exploitation, and other human rights violations.

May we continually strive toward a vision where every person, regardless of their origin, status, and race, is treated with respect, dignity, and equality.

24/11/2025

As we honor the National Children’s Month with the theme, “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”. We celebrate this month, especially the children of OFWs or Anak OFWs, who continue to show strength, resilience, and responsibility despite the distance and longing brought by migration.

Yet even in their resilience, many of them face real challenges, such as living alone as minors, vulnerability to abuse from relatives or neighbors, mental health struggles, bullying, and the risk of dropping out of school. These are burdens no child should carry, especially without their parents by their side.

On this day, let us strengthen our commitment to safeguarding and ensuring that the Anak OFWs are protected, supported, and empowered. May we continue to build platforms, programs, and communities together with our Anak OFWs that uphold their rights and welfare and champion their well-being.

Together, let us create a world where every child can grow, dream, and thrive with respect and dignity. 💛✨
