A Fruitful Day for Senior Scouts under BSP Davao City Council
In celebration of Scouting Month, the Senior Scouting Units under the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Davao City Council had an enriching and productive day of learning and camaraderie. The Order of the Knights of Baden-Powell (OKBP) successfully conducted “The Scouting Horizons: Trail 2” — an activity designed to help Senior Scouts progress toward earning their Merit Badges in Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Camping Essentials, and Ropework.
During the event, Scouts received hands-on instruction in several vital skills:
1. How to respond to emergencies such as fires and apply basic first aid
2. How to properly pack a camping backpack and pitch a tent
3. Advanced knot-tying and lashing techniques
4. What essential items to include in a “go bag”
Knowledgeable OKBP members, each proficient in their respective fields, led the discussions and practical exercises — ensuring Scouts not only understood the concepts but were able to apply them in real-world scenarios. It was a true embodiment of the Scouting principle of “learning by doing.”
Simultaneously, the Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Internet (JOTA-JOTI), spearheaded by the Knighthawk Amateur Radio Network (KARNET), introduced Scouts to the exciting world of amateur radio operations. They had the opportunity to communicate with fellow Scouts from around the globe in real time, showcasing the power of technology in connecting the worldwide Scouting community.
This day of dynamic learning and interaction brought together 260 Senior Scouts from 16 schools, namely:
* Los Amigos National High School
* Calinan National High School
* Langub National High School
* Wangan National High School
* Baguio National School of Arts and Trades
* Soledad Duterte National High School
* San Miguel Integrated School
