Matina Community Pantry

Matina Community Pantry It started with one simple idea
We believe small acts of kindness can grow into something bigger. Magtinabangay. Mag-inambitay. Mag-amuhay

From the pandemic to Davao City, this became a community effort serving those in need.

At 7:37 AM today, the strongest earthquake the Philippines has ever recorded in the 21st century rocked Southern Mindanao, leaving 19 dead, 134 injured, 12 missing (as of the latest report as of this posting), and over 10,000 families placed under pre-emptive evacuation, according to the Office of Civil Defense. The 7.8-magnitude earthquake also triggered tsunami waves in Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, Davao Oriental, Zamboanga, and Surigao del Sur, as well as more than 180+ aftershocks.

The Art Relief Mobile Kitchen is organising an emergency food relief mission for the most underserved affected areas. Please help us bring much-needed warm bowls of hope to our kababayans, and donate to our Gcash at 09944833290. We also accept in-kind donations of ingredients and trapal (or tarps).

A huge fire razed through Purok 4D, Brgy. 23-C and reportedly leveled around 150 houses (as of the latest report upon this posting), displacing nearly 200 families now sheltering at the barangay gymnasium.

The Art Relief Mobile Kitchen Davao and the Matina Community Pantry are staging a community cookout on May 13, Wednesday, to provide warm and nutritious meals to those affected, as they rebuild their lives.

It is worth noting that this area has been a constant recipient of our food aid initiatives over the past few years for the exact same disaster, which highlights how distressing this situation must be for the residents. Every time, they muster the courage to soldier on amid the smoldering wreckage, only to suffer yet another devastating blow.

Keeping them well-fed as they heal and stand up anew is the least we can do.

We have also learned that this fire destroyed an ALS classroom for Bajau nanays. We call for in-kind donations of school materials to help set them back on their path to empowerment through education.

Donate, volunteer, or share the word! Send us a message if you want to know more.

Daghang salamat!

A tribute to the heart of our community. 💐
Happy Mother’s Day to all kinds of moms! A special shoutout to the mothers who show us every day what selflessness looks like. To those who donated, cooked, volunteered, and brought their children along to help prepare meals thank you for sharing your time and your hearts with us.

To our donors, we are deeply grateful for the support that makes this pantry possible. And to our beneficiaries especially the mothers who persevere through life’s storms for the sake of their families we honor your incredible resilience.
The world is more beautiful because mothers continue to uplift one another and prove to the younger generation that you can never go wrong in choosing kindness. 💛

As of the moment, we’re planning a pop-up merienda for our drivers. Tara G! We’re hoping to partner with a carinderia so we can serve food directly there and avoid transporting additional items. Can you recommend a place that might be willing to collaborate with us?
