On this National Heroes Day, we look back with gratitude on the wonderful memories created during Hands of Davao: Kadayawan and Buwan ng Wika Special. 🎨🤟🩵

As we celebrated the vibrant spirit of Kadayawan and the richness of our Filipino language and culture, we were reminded that every Filipino has a role in preserving our heritage and building an inclusive community. Through our hands, voices, signs, talents, and shared experiences, we celebrate the beauty of being Filipino.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported, participated in, and contributed to the success of this special event. Your presence and support made this celebration more meaningful and memorable. May we continue to uphold inclusivity, celebrate diversity, and recognize that every hand can contribute to creating positive change in our community.

May we also remember that heroes come in many forms—sometimes through extraordinary acts, and sometimes through simple acts of service, unity, understanding, and support for one another.

Together, let us continue celebrating our culture, our language, our identity, and our community—one sign at a time.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Documentation and Accreditation Support Volunteer

Not all volunteer work happens on the field.

As SLIDAR continues to grow, we recognize that building a sustainable organization also means strengthening our documentation, systems, policies, and processes.

We are looking for volunteers who can help us with:

• Document preparation and organization
• Accreditation requirements
• Development of our Manual of Operations
• Documentation of policies, procedures, and workflows
• Process improvement and organizational development

This is a fully virtual volunteer opportunity, with team meetings or coordination sessions held up to twice a month.

Administrative or documentation experience is an advantage, but not required. If you are organized, detail-oriented, interested in process improvement, and willing to learn, we would love to have you join us.

Your work may happen behind the scenes, but it will help build a stronger, more organized, and sustainable SLIDAR.

And yes, as part of the SLIDAR volunteer community, you can still participate in our activities and events whenever your schedule allows.

🩵 💛✨ THANK YOU, DAVAO! ✨💛🩵

Our hearts are full as we look back on the success of HANDS OF DAVAO! 🤟🎨

From the Deaf community, hearing participants, our amazing volunteer artists, our generous café host (Humble Table Ph), and our passionate facilitator—this event became a beautiful space where everyone connected, learned, and created together.

Joy filled the room, hands spoke louder than words, and every brushstroke told a story of inclusion, creativity, and unity.
Set in such a cozy and charming café, with delicious drinks and snacks, the experience was truly unforgettable.

Thank you for showing that when we come together with open hearts, we create something more than art—we create community.

Here’s to more moments where hands connect, stories are shared, and everyone belongs.
Sharing with you some of our favorite moments from the event!
