𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

On September 14, 2026, a volunteer orientation was held for the UP Mindanao bloodletting activity on September 25, 2026. The orientation was attended by volunteers, organizers, and personnel from the DOH Sub-National Blood Center for Mindanao.

The orientation tackled the importance and relevance of donating blood as presented by DOH personnel, the do's and don'ts before donating blood, and other reminders and things to remember about donating blood. The process flow of the activity and the tasking for the volunteers were also presented to guide organizers and volunteers on what to do on the bloodletting day.

𝐆𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Ugnayan ng Pahinungód System Office, in collaboration with Ugnayan ng Pahinungód Mindanao, will conduct a Gurong Pahinungód (GP) Orientation on September 28, 2026 (Monday), from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at the Lorenzo Hall, Administration Building, UP Mindanao.

The orientation is open to graduating students for the second semester, UP alumni from any course, and other interested students, and aims to encourage participation in meaningful community service through the Gurong Pahinungód Program. The program deploys UP graduates as volunteer teachers to public schools in underserved and marginalized communities. No prior teaching experience or background in education is required, as volunteers undergo comprehensive training prior to deployment.

𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

As the new academic year unfolds, a new batch of students answered the call to be volunteer peer tutors of the Interactive Learning Center-Learning Resource Center and Ugnayan ng Pahinungód Mindanao under the Academic Wellness Program.

The volunteer peer tutors will handle tutorial sessions in different courses based on their expertise and will hold sessions via Zoom and face-to-face. The peer tutorial aims to foster a collaborative and engaging learning environment for UP Mindanao students.

𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐏 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐒𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

On September 7, 2026, volunteers for the NSTP Anti-Sexual Harassment Training attended the volunteer orientation organized by the Office of Anti-Sexual Harassment (OASH). The volunteer orientation aimed to equip volunteers with the skills to facilitate workshops and training, particularly in recording and documenting activities, managing physical and technical setup, and guiding large crowds in interactive sessions and breakout activities.

The OASH Coordinator, Asst. Prof. Rodgessa Lopez, and the Department of Human Kinetics (DHK) Faculty member Hilton Soberano led the volunteer orientation.

On the third and final day of the AAP in the Davao Region on September 4, 2026, Ugnayan ng Pahinungod visited Pantukan National High School in Davao de Oro to conduct a College Entrance Exam Simulation Test and Career Talks on UP Mindanao’s degree program offerings.

Pantukan National High School alumna and Office of Extension and Community Service staff member Rona Dea Pacres presented the degree program offerings of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, while School of Management faculty Asst. Prof. Roxanne T. Aguinaldo and University Research Associate Melissa Loquias discussed the BS Agribusiness Economics program of the SOM. DMPCS faculty member Eric Cagay spoke on behalf of the College of Science and Mathematics.

In addition to the degree program offerings, the campaign covered the various student support services available at the university, presented by Office of Student Affairs staff member Hannah Joy Alcomendras.

We expressed our gratitude to Pantukan National High School for the warm welcome and active participation of the students, and to the rest of our volunteers, Judilee John Ranara and Ma'am Fely Benitez, for their continued support of our programs and activities.

On the second day of the Affirmative Action Program (AAP) UPCAT Campaign on September 3, 2026, Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Mindanao visited Nangan National High School in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.

In the morning activity, 113 Grade 11 students participated in the College Entrance Examination Simulation Test. Staff volunteer Ma’am Marilou Montiflor served as the examiner for the simulation exam, and other volunteers served as proctors.

As part of the university’s ongoing efforts to democratize access to UP education, students were also introduced to the degree programs offered at UP Mindanao and to student support services. University Nurse Fely Benitez spoke on behalf of the Office of Student Affairs about its sections and the services offered to students. School of Management faculty volunteer Asst. Prof. Rodgessa Lopez led a career talk on SOM and also conducted an information dissemination for Grade 12 students who are interested in applying for the Associate of Arts in Sports Studies (AASS) offering of UP Mindanao under the Department of Human Kinetics (DHK). On the other hand, DMPCS faculty member Eric Cagay discussed the College of Science and Mathematics, and Pahinungod Staff Vhea Ghane Goso spoke on behalf of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
