IKAWALONG SINAGTALA | Group 4B: Talikala: In a Click!

Word spreads fast on the Internet, and we must take this opportunity to shout out to the world to spread awareness in the digital society. This infographic entitled, “Talikala: In a Click!,” made by Group 4B, aims to express their cause in re-establishing Talikala’s online presence through a website, in a click.

Due to maintenance issues, Talikala’s old website was taken down, and since then, the institution’s online presence has slowly diminished. This project is curated explicitly in solving this problem to hopefully allow Talikala to shine a light on the people in need in the online world. We hope that through this website, we will be able to spread awareness about Talikala and be a platform for donations or funds that will surely help the institution.

Spreading awareness may seem ‘easier said than done’, rather the opposite! All it takes is a click! With one click, you are there, you are aware, you are helping!

IKAANIM NA SINAGTALA | Group 3B: Take on a Mask to Take on the Task

Talikala Inc. is an organization composed of strong and empowered women, who in turn empower other women as well. With the rise and existence of Covid-19, the organization is now posed with the challenging task of implementing its services as health restrictions are strictly imposed. In addition, it has come to our knowledge that the community also lacks certain PPE such as face masks, that we researchers would also like to address.

As Ateneans, we become "liwanag", as we help our partnered institution implement its projects and activities. In that way, just like Talikala, we become the hope and light of its beneficiaries. Incidentally, we have provided a reference material, as seen below, to further raise awareness and importance of the use of face masks for all, and especially for Talikala, so that they can continue properly and successfully implementing their projects despite the challenges imposed by the pandemic.

NOTE: Please take a moment of your time and read our infographic. If you want to take more action than just learning about masks, please donate face masks, face shields, and other certain PPE to the institution as this will surely help them!

IKAAPAT NA SINAGTALA | Group 2B: Garden of Hope

Talikala Inc. is an organization founded to establish a suitable environment for rescued ladies who are victims of indecent activities in Davao City. They are an independent institution but usually unite with other organizations to strengthen their sustainability in helping their beneficiaries, and they receive less to no support from the government.

During this pandemic, Talikala has faced different challenges that may hinder them from giving the best possible assistance and aid to their beneficiaries. To address and respond to their problem, we, as part of the society, participate and contribute to their rise as they regain their stability to empower the women.

IKATLONG SINAGTALA | Group 2A: Finding Wealth in Terms of Psychological Health

Talikala, also the Cebuano word for "chain,"—is a non-stock and non-profit social development organization that was initially was made to help protect the prostituted women and children in Davao City from the crisis inflicted by HIV/AIDS, but then grew to respond to the challenge of totally emancipating these exploited women and children from the bo***ge of human trafficking and prostitution through their direct services such as offering support, advice, training, and counseling. It founded to help these exploited women establish new lives after prostitution, empowering them to break free from the figurative chains of their literal enslavement.

According to the institution's profile, "Talikala cares directly about the victims through social workers, it collects relevant data and conducts victims to the courts." Basing on what has been said, they wish to help these women by addressing the different concerns that come with involvement in prostitution, like their well-being and the well-being of their families and children in various aspects.

PANGALAWANG SINAGTALA | Group 1B: S*x Trade is a Tirade

Talikala Inc. is a non-government social development organization that openly offers help through numerous ways for forced women involved in human trafficking and prostitution in Davao City. They aim to break the chains of the women from their unfortunate past involving prostitution. Hence, the name "Talikala", which is a Cebuano term for chains or bonds. Talikala Inc. believes and advocates for women and children's welfare as it empowers women to stand for their rights and lives.

Given that prostitution is the main issue that the institution is trying to solve, our project focuses on making changes in the livelihood of the victims, no longer relying on prostitution to sustain themselves. We want to stand with them, to help Talikala Inc. shed light on the darkness that has shaded the victims and further spread awareness regarding this matter.

UNANG SINAGTALA | Group 1A: Let Us Help Aid the Wounded

Talikala is an institution whose goal is to help prostituted women break free from their past shackles. This institution aids prostituted women and children to live better lives by assisting with various programs and activities that help improve their way of living.

Even outside the current pandemic circumstances, one of the main problems faced by the institution is food scarcity. It has worsened due to today’s situation. That being said, this issue arose from the lack of the necessary food donations, as the institution depends on these donations to give out to the beneficiaries, and/or the possible inefficiency of the food combinations being distributed to the beneficiaries. It is our advocacy to help the institution in addressing this problem. We are knocking on your kind hearts to be with us in our goal and to give and share to the institution and the beneficiaries.
