I just read this article that hit me hard --> https://www.thescubanews.com/2026/02/16/lost-dive-sites-reefs-that-no-longer-exist/
Since 2015, we’ve been monitoring reef health in the Caribbean with Caribbean Reef Buddy. We’ve seen firsthand how climate change, disease, overfishing, and catastrophic storms are stripping life from the reefs we love. And the truth is—it’s not just here.
Globally, the number of truly healthy reefs is shrinking fast.
Yes, reef regeneration programs like the ones we run in the Philippines and Caribbean help. But let’s be real—they’re more like a bandaid on a deep wound. The real change will only come when awareness grows and when we demand action from our leaders.
Here’s why it matters: one-third of the world’s population depends on nearshore reefs for food and livelihoods. If these ecosystems collapse, the impact will be devastating—especially for communities that can least afford it.
💙 Support local or international reef regeneration projects.
💙 But even more importantly—use your voice. Speak up. Push your elected leaders to see what they’re ignoring.
Because silence won’t save the reefs. Action will.
