⚡ RA 7920 Awareness Campaign: Dasmariñas City Government ⚡

The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines – IIEE Southern Cavite Chapter (IIEE-SCC) successfully conducted a collaborative discussion meeting with the Office of the Building Official (OBO) of the City Government of Dasmariñas regarding the implementation of Republic Act No. 7920, further strengthening professional cooperation and compliance in the practice of electrical engineering.

Leading the discussion were Engr. Alvin Matthew M. Sespeñe, IIEE-SCC RA 7920 Committee Chairman and Board of Director; Engr. Gensen Cariño, Chapter President; Engr. Noe Arca, Vice President for Technical Affairs; and Engr. Mark Joven Saraza, RA 7920 Committee Member.

The team formally introduced the Chapter, its ongoing professional initiatives, and key activities, while emphasizing the importance of strict compliance with Republic Act No. 7920 in ensuring public safety, professional accountability, and the proper practice of electrical engineering.

The meeting was warmly received by the Office of the Building Official of Dasmariñas, headed by Engr. Jameel Espinosa, together with OBO Electrical Engineers Engr. Marvin Merencillo and Engr. Sarina Pereña. During the discussion, the OBO shared their best practices and actual implementation strategies for RA 7920 within the City of Dasmariñas, highlighting full compliance with the law’s requirements, including the proper designation of licensed electrical practitioners based on plant capacity and operating hours, adherence to mandatory inspections and certifications, and ensuring that only Professional Electrical Engineers (P*E) are authorized to sign and seal electrical plans.

Special thanks to the City Government of Dasmariñas, led by Mayor Jennifer Barzaga, for allowing this collaborative initiative and for continuously supporting programs that promote professionalism, public safety, and excellence in the practice of electrical engineering.

This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to uphold engineering excellence, strengthen professional standards, and promote the proper implementation of RA 7920 for the benefit of the community and the electrical engineering profession.

The IIEE Southern Cavite Chapter proudly hosted the 2026 IIEE MYNC Sports Tournament, bringing together engineers and delegates from various chapters and regions for a day filled with camaraderie, teamwork, sportsmanship, and friendly competition. The activity served as a meaningful avenue for strengthening unity and fellowship among electrical engineers through different sporting events.

Participants showcased not only their athletic skills, but also discipline, determination, and teamwork in basketball, pickleball, darts, billiards, and chess competitions — truly reflecting the spirit of the IIEE community.

The IIEE Southern Cavite Chapter proudly served as one of the host delegations during the Midyear National Convention (MYNC) 2026, together with the Northern and Western Cavite Chapters under the banner of IIEE One Cavite.

Guided by the theme, “IIEE BRIGHTER 2026: Empowering the Future, Illuminating Excellence and Leading with Humility,” the national gathering brought together electrical practitioners, industry leaders, educators, students, and stakeholders from all over the country in a celebration of professional excellence, innovation, and servant leadership.

The chapter took charge of the Technical Seminar and Forum focused on Continuous Upskilling, Academic Enhancement, and Professional Progression, with the assistance of fellow chapters from the Southern Luzon Region, conducted throughout Day 1 and Day 2 of the convention. The event featured engaging technical discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at empowering electrical professionals in today’s evolving industry landscape.
