The Protecting Life on Land: The Fight Against Chemical Waste Pollution campaign seeks to educate and advocate for sustainable solutions that counteract the destructive effects of chemical waste on the environment and human health. This advocacy involves teaching communities, young people, and local businesses about the risks of chemical contamination, promoting environmentally friendly substitutes, and advocating for stronger policy implementation in accordance with UN Sustainable Development Goal 15. These activities include educational workshops, social media mobilization, clean-up activities, and partnership with local government units and environmental groups. By doing this, the campaign aims to empower people, cut chemical waste pollution, and rejuvenate land health for the current and future generations.

Ultimately, the effects of improper chemical waste management on the environment have always and will always be severe. From the study of Cristiano et al. (2021), it was stated that chemical pollution, and the release of anthropogenic chemical substances into the environment, is a driver of biodiversity loss. Since the improper disposal of chemical waste threatens the sustainability of our planet. Contaminated soil can hinder plants from growing effectively, thus, disrupting local ecosystems. Human health is also at risk, as these contaminations will definitely affect food sources which can lead to certain illnesses, making populations vulnerable to the degradation of their health. This creates long-term damages, creating barriers for the natural recovery processes of the ecosystem.

Soil contamination occurs when chemicals, or contaminants, pe*****te the soil and change its chemical and physical qualities. Radioactive waste, when improperly disposed of, can cause long-term changes in soil composition. Pollution is also caused by the improper treatment of factories, homes, and other trash, as well as the use of toxic chemical fertilizers and pesticides (Waleed Abood Mohommed Al-Dulaimi, 2021). Pollution also arises from the failure to properly treat factory, household, and other waste, as well as the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides harmful to the soil (Waleed Abood Mohommed AlDulaimi, 2021). Hazardous waste can travel for long distances through food chains This negatively affects, directly or indirectly, people, animals, and plants living on its surface. Many fertilizers are made from chemical compounds that can lead to the contamination of vegetables and fruits.

The improper chemical management have always posed a significant threat to the environmental health, specifically, the Ecosystem. It begins from the lack of awareness and adherence to proper disposal practices. When these types of hazardous chemicals are discarded without proper segregation and treatment, it can invade multiple environmental compartments. As stated by Wood (2021), when the chemicals are incorrectly processed, stored, transported, disposed of, or managed, these wastes may represent a risk to human health or the environment. This usually starts from the direct dumping into land, waterways, and sewages ignorantly, in which will eventually reach to the soil and groundwater.

In today’s world, the increasing presence of harmful waste and chemical pollutants is one of the most vital issues, due to its close relationship with human life on the economic, social, and environmental levels; as our country develops, this issue worsens.

Pollution from industrial, agricultural, and domestic activities has led to the degradation of natural habitats, endangering wildlife and disrupting ecological balance. A significant source of soil pollution is the improper disposal of industrial and household waste, particularly given that many factories are built near residential, agricultural areas, and rivers. The soil contamination problem can be recognized by its persistence, frequently lasting for extended periods before being handled or even discovered.
