When we hear this year’s Earth Day theme, "𝑶𝒖𝒓 𝑷𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓, 𝑶𝒖𝒓 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒕", it is easy to immediately think of the power grid - electricity, solar panels, and wind turbines. While transitioning to clean energy is a massive part of the equation, true environmental power runs much deeper than what keeps our lights on.

It is time to shift our perspective from passive awareness to active, living responsibility. Our real power is found in our daily agency and the systems we choose to support.

Here is how we can broaden our definition of power to create real, lasting impact:

Energy Shift: Power is taking active steps to transition toward renewable sources and optimizing how we use energy in our homes, schools, and communities.

Mindful Decisions: Power is found in our daily habits. It is the conscious choice to consume less, repair what is broken instead of throwing it away, and minimize our waste. Every item we buy—or choose not to buy—is a vote for the world we want.

Future Stewardship: Power is financial. It is directing our resources toward ethical businesses and sustainable investments. How we spend our money shapes the economic legacy we leave for future generations.

Shared Purpose: Power is collective. Individualism can only get us so far; true environmental resilience comes from community cooperation, shared resources, and working together toward a common goal.

We are no longer just raising awareness; we are building a sustainable legacy. The everyday choices we make are the seeds of the canopy that will shelter tomorrow.

St. Br. Miguel Academy (SBMA): Third Saturday Gathering ⭐

The SBMA journey continued today as Residencia Aspirants and Contacts returned to the GK Piela Community once again for their 3rd Session! We would like to extend our gratitude to the DLSU-D Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC) for the continued support and to the GK Piela Community for their utmost effort in organizing the venue for catechism! 🤝

SBMA is an apostolate program of the Aspirants and Contacts of the De La Salle Brothers that serves public school students through catechism and values formation. ⭐

Volunteer in LEAD, Be a Leaven to the Peripheries!

Dear Lasallians,

“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest,” [Matthew 9:37-38]

The Directory of Volunteer Opportunities is an invitation for reflection, reimagination, and hope. Reflecting on both the abundance of our shared mission and the challenges that come with it, we are called to reimagine our view, and hope together as a community. Jesus's words in Matthew 9:37-38—'The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few'—call us to a personal response. Just as St. John Baptist De La Salle in his time answered the call to the plight of the poor. We are also invited to consider taking this path. “Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest,” is our opportunity to take action, to see the impact of our “Yes”, and to witness the abundance of the harvest firsthand.

We invite you to reimagine your understanding of the peripheries. Our volunteer opportunities extend beyond traditional underserved communities. We share to you opportunities in providing education to our Refugee brothers and sisters. We are also opening new avenues for collaboration, reaching beyond our usual senses. Consider Silent Teddies Bakery, initially a vocational training program by the Community Service Center for the Deaf (CSCD), it became a registered social enterprise in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 6, 2017. Moreover, we invite you to continue the good work that has been started in our transformational facility for Children-in-Conflict with the Law and Children-at-Risk in the Philippines.

Think of this directory as more than just a list; it is an invitation for you to discover your vocation in our shared mission. Explore the LEAD stories, look back into our rich history to guide you forward in appreciating the various narratives and ministries across the district. After all, allow it to rekindle your passion for service for you to go out and find God in the peripheries.
