Real change often starts with something simpleโlike knowing which bin to throw your trash into.
To turn small actions into lasting community habits, the Interact Club of Lingayen, RAC Brighter Mangaldan, RAC Dagupan, and RAC Lingayen recently teamed up for a joint Area 2 initiative called "Bin It Right: Rotaract Action for Community Bin Integration and Trash Segregation."
This project was organized in partnership with the Ecology Ministry of CARITAS Lingayen-Dagupan, under the Commission on Social Services of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan. Guided by the shared spirit of caring for our common home and protecting creation, the initiative aims to build cleaner, healthier communities through practical waste awareness.
The donated waste bins were turned over by ADRR for Area 2 and CP Ryan Neil (representing RAC Brighter Mangaldan); Pres. Mark Villaruz (representing RAC Dagupan); Pres. Janice Manuel (representing RAC Lingayen); and Pres. Jhon Rodnie Pabilona (representing Interact Club of Lingayen). The donation was received by Ms. Janice Hebron, Executive Secretary of the Commission on Social Services of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan. This initiative was also supported by the Rotary Club of Lingayen, represented by Pres. Jose Rosario.
Everyday Action Meets Community Awareness
Instead of just telling people to recycle, the Rotaract and Interact clubs and the Ecology Ministry focused on giving local parishes and neighborhood spaces the actual tools to make it happen. Through the initiative, clearly labeled waste bins are being distributed directly to local communities and parish grounds.
Living Out the 5Rs
By placing these bins in high-foot-traffic community areas, the awareness campaign encourages everyone, from churchgoers to youth groups, to practice the 5Rs in their everyday lives: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot.
Beyond distributing bins, the collaboration highlights how young leaders and faith-based groups can work side by side. By leading educational efforts and organizing hands-on solutions, Area 2 Rotaractors and Interactors are proving that keeping our shared spaces clean is a shared responsibility, one proper bin at a time.
