The Medical Social Work Department conducted its Monthly Meeting last April 10, 2026, through the Facebook Messenger platform. Despite the virtual setup, the meeting remained an avenue for the department to discuss important updates, strengthen communication, and ensure continued coordination in delivering quality social work services.

The department remains committed to collaboration, adaptability, and excellence in service, regardless of the platform used.

𝘍𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨.

Last May 6, the 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣 1 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧-𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 conducted a Benchmarking Activity with the 𝘽𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙤 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧-𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 as part of its continuing commitment to strengthen systems, enhance service delivery, and promote innovative social work practices in the healthcare setting.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Head of the BGHMC Medical Social Work Department, 𝗠𝗮𝗺 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗮 𝗕. 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻, 𝗥𝗦𝗪, 𝗠𝗦𝗪, whose leadership and expertise greatly contributed to the productive exchange of knowledge and best practices between the two institutions.

The benchmarking activity focused on the department’s best practices, services, and the digitalization of its Malasakit Assessment tools and process flows, providing valuable insights on improving operational efficiency, accessibility of services, and client-centered healthcare delivery.

The activity likewise included visits to the hospital’s special centers and service areas, namely the 𝘾𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙩𝙚, 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝, 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙪𝙢𝙖 (𝙀𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩), 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙩 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧, where R1MC Medical Social Workers were able to observe integrated and responsive healthcare and social welfare services.

The R1MC Medical Social Work Department likewise extends its sincere gratitude to the BGHMC Medical Social Work Department for their warm accommodation, assistance, and generous sharing of knowledge and experiences which made the benchmarking activity both meaningful and productive.

In support of strengthening community-based geriatric care and promoting the welfare of older persons, 𝗝𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝘃𝗶 𝗩. 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗥𝗦𝗪, Social Welfare Officer I (𝙂𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧) from the R1MC Medical Social Work Department, served as resource speaker on the topic, “𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙀𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝘼𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙚, 𝙉𝙚𝙜𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮,” during the 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 program conducted by the Geriatric Center on May 12 at Ciriaco Hall.

The lecture emphasized the importance of early recognition, appropriate intervention, and community collaboration in addressing the social concerns and vulnerabilities experienced by senior citizens, further equipping Barangay Health Workers in delivering responsive and compassionate elderly care services.
