You pray for healing, then wake up the next morning and nothing has changed.

The medicine is still there. So is the diagnosis.

Gary Valenciano said something painfully honest, “I’ve been praying and there’s been no answer.”

He had been living with diabetes since he was 14. Then in 2018, he underwent heart bypass surgery. While recovering, doctors discovered something else.

Cancer in his kidney.

And Gary admitted that his prayer sounded less like a perfect testimony and more like a tired conversation with God.

“It’s still there. You haven’t taken it away.”

I think many of us know that kind of prayer. The prayer you have prayed so many times that you no longer know what else to say.

Lord, I’ve asked You to heal this.
Lord, I’ve asked You to change this.
Lord, I’ve been waiting.

Why is nothing happening?

But somewhere in that struggle, Gary was reminded of what was still there.

He was still alive.

His eyes could still see. His ears could still hear. His body was still fighting. And years after everything he had gone through, he could still say, “But I’m still here.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

There will be prayers whose answers we understand immediately. And there will be prayers we carry for years.

And maybe today, your testimony is simply this: I’m still here.

In the cross, suffering and love met.

That is why it feels so personal to me.

I know what it is like to love through pain. To keep praying when my heart is tired. To keep trusting when I do not understand. To keep loving even when it costs something.

Jesus did not love from a distance.

He carried the cross.
He stayed.
He gave Himself completely.

John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

So when I look at the cross, I do not only see suffering.

I see how deeply I am loved.

Don't overthink.

Worry will not remove tomorrow’s problems. It will only steal today’s peace.

You can plan.
You can prepare.
You can do your part.

But do not let your mind live in a day God has not asked you to carry yet.

Matthew 6:34 says, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”

So breathe. Take today one step at a time.

God is already in your tomorrow, but He is also giving you grace for today.

I pray that God gives every married couple the gift of growing old together.

More mornings waking up beside each other.

More ordinary dinners, long conversations, little arguments, forgiveness, laughter, and quiet prayers.

More years to watch the wrinkles deepen, the hair turn gray, and still reach for the same hand.

After all the dreams, struggles, and seasons you survive together, growing old with the person you love is one of life’s greatest blessings.

“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” - Mark 10:9

There comes a point when you stop asking, “Kailan darating ang tamang tao?” and start asking, “Bakit parang may kulang pa rin sa akin?”

That was what made Alden Richards’ interview hit differently.

He talked about the relationships that almost happened, the women he courted, the mistakes he made, and the pressure of feeling like maybe he should have found “the one” by now.

Then he said, “Siguro for the longest time, naghahanap ako ng pagmamahal from another person, na, na-realize ko pagmamahal pala sa sarili ‘yung kulang.”

And that realization was powerful.

We can spend years waiting for someone to choose us, reassure us, and make us feel worthy, only to discover that another person cannot fill every empty space inside us.

There is nothing wrong with praying for love.

But while waiting, do not forget yourself.

Heal.
Grow.
Forgive yourself.

Psalm 139:14 says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Love does not always begin when someone finally arrives. It begins when you finally learn to see yourself the way God sees you.

Imagine studying for years, working hard, earning a degree, and then realizing that your biggest dream is to leave the country that raised you.

That is the painful reality for many young Filipinos.

Not because they hate the Philippines, but because they want better opportunities, fairer systems, decent jobs, and a future that does not always feel like a struggle.

That is why Sarah Geronimo’s words during the UAAP opening were powerful, “One day, kayo ang magbabago ng bulok na sistema ng bansang ito.”

She was speaking to the youth, but the message was bigger than the event.

Sarah talked about hoping for a Philippines where Filipinos no longer have to leave just to find a good job. A country where opportunities are already here. A country worth building a future in.

And that kind of change does not begin only in Malacañang, Congress, or government offices.

It begins when young people stop accepting corruption as normal. When they choose integrity over shortcuts. When they learn to question what is wrong instead of simply adjusting to it.

We often tell the youth, “Kayo ang pag-asa ng bayan.”

But hope is not just something we say to them. It is something we prepare them for.

And maybe Sarah is right.

Maybe the generation watching the broken system today will be the same generation that finally refuses to inherit it.

You do not have to look rich just to prove that you are doing well in life.

As Fr. Jeffrey Mirasol said, “Okay lang magmukhang mahirap basta wala kang utang.”

Simple, but true.

We live in a time when it is easy to feel pressured by what we see around us. New phones, branded things, nice cars, travel, expensive food. There is nothing wrong with enjoying these things if you can truly afford them.

But never trade your peace of mind just to impress people.

It is better to live simply and sleep peacefully than to look successful while constantly worrying about bills and debt.

Proverbs 22:7 says, “The borrower is slave to the lender.”

The better life is the quieter one.

The one within your means.
The one without pretending.
The one that gives you peace.

Maybe this is your reminder. Do not let your heart be troubled.

I know life can feel heavy.

There are prayers still unanswered.
Plans that did not happen.
Problems you keep carrying quietly.

But John 14:1 says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”

So breathe.

God is still with you in this season. Your heart may be tired, but it is not alone.

One of the hardest things to admit about faith is that you can love God deeply and still be confused by Him.

You can trust Him and still ask, “Lord, bakit ganito?”

That is why Hilda Koronel’s words struck me, “I question a lot of things when I talk to God. It's like I'm talking to a father.”

There is something beautiful about that kind of faith.

Hilda did not speak as someone whose life went exactly as planned. She talked about hardships, decisions she later realized were wrong, relationships that did not work, and the many times life brought her down.

And through all of it, she still talked to God.

Not with rehearsed words. Not pretending to understand everything. She questioned Him the way a child speaks honestly to a father.

Questioning God is not always the opposite of faith.

The fact that you are still asking Him “Why?” means you still believe He is listening.

And Hilda said something even more beautiful, “Kahit nung nadadapa akong madalas, dinadampot pa rin niya ako. Always, never fails.”

Psalm 62:8 says, “Pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”
