A snapshot of July/August's activity.

In the months of July and August we were able to deliver 43 EORE sessions and 15 NTS sessions to communities, throughout Mindanao, with a total of 3,942 beneficiaries of which 2,737 were children
Our thanks go out to DepEd, MBHTE and the LGUs, for allowing us access to the children and communities under their care.

FSD was also able to facilitate the clearance of 1 UXO with an estimated 15 direct beneficiaries.

So many people around the world have fallen victim to UXO it is essential that we have the opportunity to teach them the Safe and Unsafe behavior when encountering a UXO.

Sadly this will be our last post, for a while, as our current project comes to an end 31 August 2026.
We hope to be back soon when new funding comes through to continue our vital work in helping to make Mindanao a safer place to live, one step at a time😀😀

Promoting Safety Through Awareness! 💙

Cabpangi Elementary School would like to extend our gratitude to Fondation Suisse de Déminage (FSD)/FSD-France for conducting an Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) session for our learners.

The session helped raise awareness about Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and taught everyone how to stay safe around suspicious objects.

Today 30 July 2026, FSD France Mindanao had the privilege of meeting with Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento, of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), and distinguished colleagues in Manila to discuss ongoing project activities and exciting opportunities for future collaboration.

At FSD France, we remain deeply committed to working with all peoples and institutions of Mindanao.

🔔 What seemed like an ordinary bell turned out to be an unexploded ordnance

During a risk education session in the Philippines, community members shared that they had been using an unexploded ordnance item as a bell and showed it to the FSD team. Once they understood the danger it posed, they immediately agreed to replace it with a safer alternative.

To help prevent accidents, FSD conducts risk education sessions in conflict-affected communities across Mindanao, works with local authorities to integrate safety messages into the school curricula, surveys areas suspected of contamination, and supports the safe disposal of explosive hazards.

This project is supported by 🇦🇺 Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia in The Philippines.

Our thanks go out to the LGUs, for allowing us access to the communities under their care.

FSD was also able to facilitate the clearance of 1 UXO with an estimated 12 direct beneficiaries.

So many people around the world have fallen victim to UXO it is essential that we have the opportunity to teach them the Safe and Unsafe behavior when encountering a UXO.

🩵 Listening to a Survivor in Mindanao

In Mindanao, Philippines, FSD Survey Officer Almira Camad speaks with a survivor of an explosive ordnance accident, listening as he shares how a single moment changed his life.

He describes how his life was turned upside down in an instant, making even the simplest daily tasks feel like an uphill battle. The physical pain and emotional weight of the event have changed everything for him, turning a once-normal routine into a constant struggle towards recovery.

Through such conversations, FSD teams aim to gain a better understanding of the needs of those affected and connect them with the appropriate support, while contributing to safer communities. In this case, the victim was referred to the Ministry of Social Services and Development.
