LBO Leaders Trained on Bangsamoro Electoral Code in Davao City

Cotabato City, February 20, 2025 – More than 40 officers and members of the League of Bangsamoro Organizations (LBO) from across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) gathered in Davao City for an intensive two-day training on the Bangsamoro Electoral Code (BEC).

Organized by The Asia Foundation (TAF), the Speakers Bureau Training of Trainers (TOT) was held on February 15-16, 2025, at Blue Lotus Hotel. The program aimed to equip LBO leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to educate communities on the BEC, fostering a well-informed electorate ahead of future regional elections.

By training local advocates, the initiative seeks to strengthen democratic participation and empower Bangsamoro communities with a deeper understanding of their electoral rights and responsibilities. The training also encourages participants to cascade their learnings within their respective organizations, ensuring a broader reach.

Ms. Noraida Chio, Program Manager of TAF, highlighted the initiative’s potential impact. “If each participant trains just five members, at least 200 individuals will benefit from this program. However, during LBO’s planning session, they identified the potential to reach thousands more through re-echo sessions, extending the training to diverse sectors and communities, both within and beyond BARMM.”
