Dr. RAHIB KUDTO CALLS FOR STRONGER COMMITMENT TO BANGSAMORO PEACE AGREEMENT

The Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro, or CAB remains the foundation of lasting peace in the Bangsamoro region.

This was emphasized by TPMT Member and UNYPAD President Rahib L. Kudto during his opening statement at the presentation of the 9th Public Report of the Third Party Monitoring Team, or TPMT, held at the New World Hotel in Makati City on May 5.

Kudto stressed that the Political Track and the Normalization Track of the peace process must move forward together to preserve trust and maintain the integrity of the peace agreement.

He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front or M**F, including setting aside the aspiration for full independence and decommissioning forces in the interest of peace and autonomy.

However, Kudto noted that concerns remain regarding perceived interference in governance, leadership issues within the transition government, and decisions that appear inconsistent with the principle of jointness.

Because of this, the TPMT called on all parties to reaffirm the principles of partnership, consultation, and shared responsibility to protect the gains of the peace process and ensure a credible and successful Bangsamoro transition.
