From Learning to Action: Empowering Young Peace Heroes

The journey of our young Peace Heroes continued with meaningful learning experiences focused on leadership, self-discovery, and taking action for positive change in their school and community.

On Day 3, participants explored the importance of everyday leadership, discovered their individual strengths, and learned how young people can contribute to building a more peaceful and caring environment. Through interactive activities and group discussions, they were encouraged to recognize their potential as young leaders and agents of positive change.

Putting their learnings into action, the participants collaboratively developed and presented their Peace Heroes Project Plans: Garden of Peace and Comfy of Peace. These proposed initiatives reflect their creativity, teamwork, and commitment to creating a more welcoming, peaceful, and supportive school environment.

Through this activity, the young Peace Heroes learned that leadership is not only about having ideas but also about working together, recognizing the needs of others, and taking meaningful steps toward positive change.

May the seeds of peace planted during this camp continue to grow in the hearts of our young Peace Heroes, inspiring them to practice kindness, cooperation, and responsibility in their everyday lives.

ACCELERATE Bangsamoro Advances Enhancements to Shari’ah-Compliant Women Empowerment Facility

The ACCELERATE Bangsamoro Project supported a two-day enhancement workshop on October 9–10, 2026, to strengthen the Shari’ah-Compliant Women Empowerment Facility (WEF) and its support for women entrepreneurs.

Supported by the Australian Government in partnership with The Asia Foundation, the workshop brought together area coordinators and women enterprise partners of the League of Moro Women Organization, Inc., ACCELERATE’s implementing partner for WEF. M&T Consultants, Islamic Co. facilitated the sessions, guiding participants through a review of implementation experiences and proposed improvements for the next cycle.

The workshop assessed lessons from WEF Cycle 1, covering October 2025 to September 2026. Reflections from area coordinators and partners, alongside findings from field visits, helped identify ways to make the facility more accessible and responsive to women’s business needs.

Participants reviewed the financing process from application to repayment, including eligibility, needs assessment, proposal preparation, registration, acquisition and delivery of goods, and repayment monitoring. Discussions also addressed simpler documentation, clearer responsibilities, and support arrangements for partners experiencing payment difficulties.

A central focus was refining the existing Murabahah product and exploring three additional offerings: Ijara for equipment rental, Salam for advance payment against future delivery of goods, and Istisna for products manufactured according to agreed specifications. These proposed additions would accommodate a wider range of business activities and financing needs.

Through group exercises facilitated by M&T, participants examined current practices and proposed arrangements for each product. They considered financing amounts, payment and delivery schedules, documentation, partner support, and safeguards throughout the transaction.

The workshop also explored WEF’s longer-term direction, including governance, institutional readiness, operational capacity, and sustainability. Its outputs will inform LMWOI’s leadership decisions and preparations for the next implementation cycle.

Guided by the message“Prosperity with Integrity in Shari’ah Way,” the activity emphasized accessible financing, clear agreements, and responsive support to strengthen women’s enterprises.

Products of Peace: Bangsamoro Women Bringing Stories of Peace to Metro Manila.

Day 1 at the “Products of Peace: An Exhibit on Stories of Women, Peace, and Transformation”, held alongside the ASEAN Women, Peace and Security Conference under the Philippines’ 2026 ASEAN Chairmanship.

The League of Moro Women Organization, Inc. (LMWOI) is honored to be part of this meaningful exhibit, showcasing products made by Bangsamoro women and communities.

Behind every product is a story, a story of women and communities who have experienced conflict, faced challenges, and continue to choose resilience, hope, and peace. From locally made food products to traditional crafts and community-made goods, each product reflects the strength, skills, and determination of women to rebuild their lives and create better opportunities for their families and communities.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), through the UNDP Philippines United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), for inviting LMWOI to be part of this important gathering. Thank you for providing a platform where the stories, products, and contributions of Bangsamoro women can be shared and celebrated.

To our friends in Metro Manila, we warmly invite you to visit the Products of Peace Exhibit and discover the stories behind the products crafted by our communities. Every purchase is more than just a product—it is a way of supporting women-led livelihoods, resilience, and the continuing journey toward peace.

From the Bangsamoro to Metro Manila, we proudly bring not only our products, but also the stories of women who continue to turn experiences of conflict into stories of strength, hope, and peace.

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Philippines’ Peace Accords Matrix-Mindanao (PAM-M) facilitated the second dialogue between its Civil Society Organization (CSO) platform and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (M**F) peace mechanisms, today at Davao City.

The session provided an avenue where participants can engage each other in dialogue, “…not to prove a point, but to deeply understand one another,” as emphasized by Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, University of Notre Dame’s Madhav Joshi in his welcoming message.

The M**F peace mechanism delegation, composed of the Joint Normalization Committee (JNC), Joint Peace and Security Committee (JPSC), Joint Communications Committee (JCC), Joint Task Force on Camps Transformation (JTFCT), Transitional Justice and Reconciliation (TJR), Task Force for Decommissioned Combatants and their Communities (TFDCC), Joint Peace and Security Teams (JPSTs), and the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG), gave updates on the implementation of normalization commitments, such as TJR developments and socio-economic support for targeted sectors, among other key commitments.

An open forum further encouraged dialogue among participants, where PAM-M’s 12 CSO partners raised questions that emanated from their community feedbacking sessions held across Bangsamoro.

These were readily answered by the delegation, as they also acknowledged the important role of CSOs in cultivating justice, healing, and harmony on the ground.

CRS Philippines’ Technical Advisor on Social Cohesion, Myla Leguro, officially closed the dialogues by summarizing identified ways forward, such as data sharing protocols, joint dialogues with the GPH and M**F peace mechanisms, and an orientation about normalization to unify messages.

Today’s session closes the four-day PAM-M activities that started on September 28, 2026 in Davao City.

Through continued conversations and collaboration, PAM-M and its partners remain committed to advancing a harmonious and prosperous Bangsamoro.

Camp Darapanan Integrated School
September 24, 2026

Celebrating Learning, Gratitude, and Young Leaders for Peace.

The three-day Peace Heroes Camp at Camp Darapanan Integrated School concluded with a meaningful closing program filled with gratitude, reflection, and inspiration.

The program provided an opportunity for the participants to look back on their journey, celebrate their learnings, and appreciate the meaningful experiences and connections they gained throughout the camp.

One of the highlights was the inspirational message shared by Ma’am Sittie Cariza Abas, one of the teachers of Camp Darapanan Integrated School. Her message encouraged the young Peace Heroes to carry the values they learned into their everyday lives and continue being responsible young leaders who contribute to peace and positive change in their school and community.

The program also recognized the participants' efforts, active involvement, and teamwork through the awarding of certificates and special awards, celebrating their achievements throughout the camp.

As the Peace Heroes Camp came to an end, the participants were reminded that becoming a Peace Hero goes beyond attending a training. It means choosing kindness, showing respect, taking responsibility, and inspiring others through meaningful actions.

The camp may be over, but the journey of becoming young leaders for peace continues! May our Peace Heroes carry the lessons, friendships, and inspiration they gained as they continue to make a difference in their school and community.
