The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) proudly congratulates Ar. Gabriel P. Formoso on his declaration as National Artist for Architecture 2025 (Posthumous).

This distinguished recognition celebrates not only an architect, but a visionary whose work, ideas, and contribution to Philippine architecture have left an enduring mark on our nation’s built heritage.

Though he may no longer be with us, his legacy continues to stand, in the spaces he shaped, in the principles he championed, and in the generations of architects inspired by his work.

Today, the entire UAP community joins the nation in honoring a remarkable architect whose name now takes its rightful place among the greats of Philippine art and culture.

UAP DISTRICT D1B CPD EVENT AND FELLOWSHIP NIGHT

Delegates of the United Architects of the Philippines – Cotabato Chapter joined fellow architects from District D1b for a meaningful day of continuing professional development, knowledge-sharing, and fellowship, proudly sponsored by Davies Paints.

The CPD Seminar featured distinguished speakers:

The sessions provided valuable insights on ethics, laws, public service, architectural practice, and the continuing evolution of our profession, capped by an engaging open forum.

The day ended not only with new knowledge, but with new connections and strengthened friendships as UAP Cotabato members gathered with fellow architects over dinner, music, and fellowship.

Because a stronger profession is built not only through knowledge and competence—but through unity and camaraderie.

The United Architects of the Philippines - Cotabato Chapter extends its warmest congratulations to one of our founding members, Ar. Eduard U. Guerra, UAP, Minister of the Ministry of Public Works – Bangsamoro, on his election as a Member of the Bangsamoro Parliament under the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) in the historic first Bangsamoro regional parliamentary elections held on September 14, 2026.

From the profession of architecture to public service and regional governance, your journey reflects the meaningful role that architects can play in shaping not only the built environment, but also the institutions and communities we serve.

May your experience, expertise, and commitment to public service continue to contribute to the advancement of the Bangsamoro people, the profession, and the region.

UAP DISTRICT D1B JOINT INDUCTION AND TURN-OVER CEREMONY

The United Architects of the Philippines - Cotabato Chapter proudly joined the first ever UAP District D1B Assembly, a historic gathering that brought together architects from across the SOCCSKSARGEN region in a celebration of fellowship, learning and unity.

We would like to thank our Guest Speaker Hon. Erlinda Pabi-Araquil, (Koronadal City Mayor), Ar. Chona E. Ponce, FUAP, EUAP (UAP National Executive Vice President), Ar. Dixie Hannah Lou C. Sarmiento, UAP (UAP Area D Vice President), Ar. Rex S. Chua Tak, UAP, GreenAP (UAP Secretary General) Ar. Marian Eileen Florentino-Marudo, FUAP (UAP National Treasurer), Ar. Marlo J. Basco, FUAP (Charter District Director), Ar. Raquel B. Pajarillo, UAP, (Outgoing District Director), Ar. Medeliano T. Roldan, FUAP and Ar. Benjamin K. 🏛️ BITYALA ARKITEKTURA: WHERE EXPERIENCE BECOMES WISDOM, AND WISDOM BECOMES LEGACY

The United Architects of the Philippines – Cotabato Chapter successfully conducted its 2nd General Membership Meeting on August 29, 2026, at Kitoks, Cotabato City.

More than a regular gathering, the meeting marked an important milestone for the Chapter with the launching of BITYALA ARKITEKTURA—a mentorship initiative designed to create a space where architects can share not only their professional knowledge, but also the experiences, values, and lessons that shaped their journey in the profession.

Bityala, a Maguindanaoan word meaning conversation or dialogue, embodies the belief that some of the most valuable lessons in architecture are learned not only from books and classrooms, but through stories, experiences, and conversations among fellow architects.

For its inaugural session, Group 1 Head Ar. Marlo J. Basco shared insights from nearly 35 years of professional practice, tracing his journey from government service to private practice.

At the heart of his message were the 4Ms:
MASIPAG • MATIYAGA • MAPAGKUMBABA • MAY TAKOT SA DIYOS

He further encouraged architects to dedicate at least one pro-bono project as a way of sharing our professional gifts, serving the community, and giving back to God.

The dialogue was further enriched by Group Member Ar. Abdulmaoti Akmad Jr. and Chapter Treasurer Ar. Christie Manara, who shared their experiences in government practice.

The meeting also featured updates on the Chapter’s August activities and financial status, preparations for the UAP D1B District Assembly, relevant Memorandum Circulars, and the upcoming National Conference of Architects on October 15–17, 2026, in Clark, Pampanga.

The Chapter expresses its sincere gratitude to Elena V. Co Hardware Inc., through Mr. Ongpin Yu Ekey, for its generous support, and to all members whose presence and active participation continue to strengthen the Chapter.
