The Bangsamoro Empowered Survivors Overseas Association (BESOA) is grateful to be recognized as one of the beneficiaries of the Tulong Puso Program of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration โ€“ BARMM (OWWA-BARMM).

This recognition reflects OWWA-BARMMโ€™s strong commitment to the welfare, empowerment, and protection of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), former OFWs, and their families in the Bangsamoro region.

Through the Tulong Puso Program, BESOA is further strengthened in its mission to provide meaningful support services, promote livelihood opportunities, and encourage sustainable reintegration for its members and beneficiaries.

BESOA sincerely extends its deepest appreciation to OWWA-BARMM for the trust, support, and opportunity given to the organization. This assistance serves not only as material support but also as an inspiration to continue delivering programs anchored on compassion, service, and community empowerment.

In addition, BESOA would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to the Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute for its invaluable support, advocacy, and continued commitment to protecting the rights and well-being of migrant workers. The guidance and partnership of the Blas Ople Center play a vital role in strengthening programs that uphold dignity, protection, and empowerment for OFWs.

The organization reaffirms its commitment to responsibly utilize the support provided under the Tulong Puso Program and to uphold transparency, accountability, and dedication in serving the OFW sector. BESOA looks forward to sustaining a strong partnership with OWWA-BARMM in advancing the welfare and development of Bangsamoro OFWs and their families.

Together in ending all forms of trafficking in persons! ๐Ÿค

AWO International supported the participation of its partner organizations, Atikha Overseas Workers and Communities Initiative, Inc., Blas Ople Policy Center, and Center for Migrant Advocacy, Phils. Inc. in the 3-day Workshop to Update the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) for Victims of Trafficking organized by IOM Philippines, British Embassy Manila, and in partnership with IACAT from 14 to 16 January 2025 in Quezon City, Philippines.

Technical representatives from IACAT member agencies, civil society organizations, and social structure members from Atikha Inc. and Blas Ople Policy Center participated in a series of structured discussions and workshop exercises. The objective was to identify gaps and suggest improvements on existing referral mechanisms, standard operating procedures, and present guidelines. The expected outcome of the workshop is to draft an updated and enhanced NRM.
The engagement of AWO Internationalโ€™s partner organizations and social structure members in this workshop provided an opportunity for them to present the various challenges they face as service providers and clients in the community; actual scenarios and real stories of victim-survivors that would have otherwise been overlooked at the national-level discussions.

Since 2018, AWO International has been providing support to our partner organizations in organizing social structures, enhancing their self-help and advocacy capacity, and promoting collective empowerment within communities. This support ensures that disadvantaged individuals achieve sustainability in improving their living conditions through a project titled, โ€œPromoting Safe Migration and Combatting Human Trafficking in the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia,โ€ which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
