ends of the Peace Agreement, armed MNLF combatants went down the hills to mainstream themselves into the society. Farms were reopened for cultivation as the fighters settled down with their families. The women revolutionaries were equally enthusiastic to play their role in rebuilding their shattered local economy. Several foreign donor agencies emerged to support the Peace initiatives in Mindanao. Assistance however, was sparse and could hardly be felt by the former combatants as direct recipients. Bangsamoro Women members realized the need to organize a body to lead in coordinating, linkaging and fund sourcing for livelihood and other socio-economic programs/projects as well as to assist the donor agencies in identifying their target group. This paved the way for the organization of Federation of United Mindanawan Bangsamoro Women Multi-Purpose Cooperative on November 1997. The FUMBWMPC is founded by MNLF Women Combatant, HADJA BAINON G. KARON, who is now a Government civil servant who formerly was the Regional Secretary of the DSWD-ARMM and was also appointed as OIC Vice Governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao from 2011-2013.
