The orientation welcomed our new members of the Social Work family and served as an avenue to help them become familiar with the BS Social Work program, its objectives, policies, expectations, and the community they are now part of.
The program commenced with the preliminaries, followed by a warm welcome address from ๐๐ฟ. Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and an inspirational message from our guest speaker, This was followed by a video presentation introducing the Department of Social Work and an orientation on the BS Social Work Objectives, presented by ๐๐ธ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ . The students were also oriented on the Admission and Retention Policy, discussed by Jehahn C. Abid, RSW, providing them with a clearer understanding of the academic standards and responsibilities expected throughout their journey in the program.
Adding to the meaningful event was the presentation of the JSWAP-CotSU Chapter officers, led by The Open Forum then allowed students to ask questions, express concerns, and gain further insights about their experiences as Social Work students.
The orientation concluded with the closing remarks from ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป ๐. Social Work Program Head and JSWAP - CotSU Chapter Adviser, followed by a Campus Tour, giving our first-year students, shifters, and transferees the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the university and their new academic environment.
To our incoming first years, shifters, and transferees, welcome to the BS Social Work family! May your journey be filled with meaningful learning, genuine connections, personal growth, and a deeper commitment to the profession and the communities we serve.
