LBO, Nagsagawa ng Pulong Balitaan Hinggil sa Pagbibitiw ni Galvez at Pag-upo ng Bagong OPAPRU Secretary

COTABATO CITY — Nagsagawa ng isang pulong balitaan ang League of Bangsamoro Organizations (LBO) ngayong Abril 23, 2026 sa LBO Conference Room, Palestine Street, Tamontaka I, Cotabato City, upang ilahad ang kanilang opisyal na posisyon kaugnay ng pagbibitiw ni Carlito Galvez Jr. bilang Secretary ng Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) at ang pagtatalaga kay Melvin M. Sarmento bilang bagong pinuno ng nasabing tanggapan.

Pinangunahan ang press conference ni LBO Acting President Yusoph S. Lumambas, kasama sina Engr. Mlang Utto Madal (LBO AHWA Member), Thelma Ali (LBO Council of Representative Secretary General), at Atty. Badrudin Manguindra (LBO Legal Council).

Normalization at Political Tracks, Apektado

muling pagtitibay at pagprotekta sa integridad ng CAB bilang bunga ng 17 taong negosasyon;

pagpapanumbalik sa sentral na papel ng M**F sa transisyon;

pagtiyak na ang BTA ay mananatiling malaya mula sa labis na panghihimasok at tunay na kumakatawan sa hangarin ng Bangsamoro;

“We are for peace, for justice, and for the full realization of genuine Bangsamoro autonomy,” pagtatapos ng LBO.

PRESSCON TODAY | LBO STATEMENT

Peace. Justice. Genuine Bangsamoro Autonomy.

Soft Launching of Asia-Pacific Headquarters for Al-Aqsa and Palestine Held in Jakarta

Jakarta, Indonesia — April 15, 2026

The soft launching of the Asia-Pacific Headquarters (HQ) for Al-Aqsa and Palestine was successfully held today in Jakarta, Indonesia, marking a significant milestone in strengthening regional solidarity and coordinated efforts in support of the Palestinian cause.

The event gathered distinguished leaders, advocates, and representatives from across the Asia-Pacific region who share a unified commitment to advancing awareness, humanitarian action, and diplomatic engagement for Al-Quds and the people of Palestine.

Among the notable participants was Hashim B. Manticayan (in zoom), President of League of Bangsamoro Organizations (LBO), who serves as a Steering Committee Member - Philippine Representative to the Asia-Pacific HQ for Al-Quds and Palestine.

His presence underscored the Philippines’ growing involvement in regional initiatives advocating for justice, peace, and humanitarian support for Palestine.

In his statement, Manticayan emphasized the importance of collective action among nations and civil society organizations in the Asia-Pacific, noting that “the establishment of this headquarters is a testament to our shared responsibility to uphold justice and amplify the voices of the الفلسطيني people in the global arena.”

The LBO, under Manticayan’s leadership, has been actively engaged in international conferences and solidarity initiatives in Indonesia and Turkey since 2024. These engagements have strengthened partnerships and enhanced the organization’s role in promoting awareness and cooperation on issues affecting Palestine and the broader Muslim world.

The newly launched Asia-Pacific HQ aims to serve as a central platform for coordination, research, advocacy, and humanitarian programs dedicated to Al-Aqsa and Palestine. It is expected to foster stronger collaboration among governments, non-government organizations, and grassroots movements across the region.

Organizers expressed optimism that the Jakarta headquarters will play a pivotal role in mobilizing resources, shaping policy dialogue, and sustaining long-term support for the Palestinian cause.

The soft launch concluded with a renewed call for unity, peace, and sustained commitment to justice, as participants reaffirmed their solidarity with the people of Palestine and their enduring struggle for self-determination.

Following the successful 2-Day National Conference for Palestine, women-led organizations, spearheaded by the Ittihadun-Nisa' Foundation (INFo), core officers, convened the Women Peace Dialogue in partnership with guests from the Asia Pacific Women Coalition for Quds and Palestine and the Global Women Coalition for Quds and Palestine. The dialogue was also graced by the presence of Handala Project Vice President Lobna Abu-Hamdan and Mahadia Maher, a Palestinian refugee.

Held on April 12, 2026, at the Blue Lotus Hotel, the dialogue gathered participants from fourteen NGOs, including Noorus Salaam, MWAGG, MOSEP, and other women’s organizations affiliated with the League of Bangsamoro Organizations, Inc. The participants expressed their shared interest and solidarity in supporting this humanitarian advocacy.

The session was characterized by meaningful collaboration and a thoughtful exchange of insights from five esteemed panelists. Among the highlights were the presentations of Dr. Fauziah, who provided a clear historical context of Palestine; Nurjanah Hulwani Muchlish, President of the Global Women Coalition for Quds and Palestine; Maryam Rachmayani Yusof, President/Director of Adara Relief International; Engr. Ruby Andong, Co-convenor of the Women Organizations Movement of Bangsamoro (WOMB) represented INFo, who shared the organization’s initiatives; and Noraida Chio, a member of the Board of Directors of the Noorus Salaam National Women Council.

More than a discussion, the dialogue served as a starting point for collective action. The participants agreed on initial steps to help guide the way forward, particularly the formation of a dedicated task force that will work toward establishing a Philippines Women’s Coalition, which will commence in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. This effort will be further developed through succeeding meetings and planned activities focused on Palestinian issues, reflecting the shared commitment of Bangsamoro Filipino women.

This gathering, in its simplicity, reflects the strength of unity among women who aspire to contribute to peace, justice, education, and meaningful action. With humility and hope, we continue to move forward, amplifying voices, strengthening solidarity, and supporting the global call for justice in Palestine.

In addition to the organizations mentioned above, we would like to acknowledge and thank the following for their valuable support and contribution to the success of this event: MWDECE, UNYPAD, NABIE, BDA, Andara Relief, Buluan District Hospital, and MBHTE-BARMM.

[𝐹𝑢𝑙𝑙 𝑆𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦] 𝐴𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑙 10-11, 2026, 𝐷𝑎𝑣𝑎𝑜 𝐶𝑖𝑡𝑦, 𝑃ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑝𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠 — A two-day National Solidarity Conference for Palestine and Call for Peace in the Middle East organized through a collaborative effort of the League of Bangsamoro Organizations, Mindanao Peoples Caucus, Initiatives for International Dialogue, Peacebuilders Community Inc., Handala Project, Akbayan Citizens’ Action Party, and SENTRO, brought together civil society organizations, peace advocates, policymakers, members of the international community, and the Palestinian diaspora in a unified effort to strengthen global solidarity and advance calls for justice and peace in Palestine.

Anchored on the shared objective of amplifying truth and mobilizing action, the conference sought to raise awareness on the realities faced by Palestinians, push for accountability from the international community, strengthen humanitarian and advocacy initiatives, and promote interfaith and cross-regional solidarity toward achieving a just and lasting peace in Palestine.

Delivering the keynote address, Mohagher M. Iqbal, Chair of the Peace Implementing Panel of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (M**F), emphasized the shared history of struggle between the Bangsamoro and the Palestinian people. Drawing from the Bangsamoro peace process, he underscored that peace cannot be separated from justice and inclusivity, stressing that sustained international solidarity is essential in addressing long-standing conflicts rooted in historical injustice.

Central to the conference were the voices of Palestinians themselves. Mahadiya Soria Franji shared a deeply personal account of her life as a refugee from Gaza now residing in the Philippines. She spoke of displacement, loss, and the enduring uncertainty faced by her people, calling on the global community to move beyond passive sympathy and take concrete action toward justice and protection of civilians.

Speaking directly from Palestine via Zoom, Amira Musallam of the Unarmed Civilian Protection in Palestine (UCPiP) highlighted the ongoing humanitarian challenges on the ground. She detailed the difficulties in reaching affected communities amid continuing hostilities and emphasized the urgent need for accurate, real-time information to reflect the true situation. Both Musallam and Franji called on international organizations and global media to take responsibility in exposing the realities in Palestine and ensuring that the voices of those directly affected are heard without distortion.

International solidarity efforts were further reinforced by key global and regional leaders. Ahmed Alattawna of the Global Coalition for Quds and Palestine outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at mobilizing international support and sustaining advocacy efforts worldwide. From Southeast Asia, Faudzia Hassan and Sudarnato Abdul Hakim highlighted the role of women-led movements in advancing humanitarian response and advocacy across borders and the importance of interfaith unity and collective diplomatic engagement in addressing the crisis. Philippine-based peace advocates also contributed significantly, including Gus Miclat, who emphasized regional cooperation and dialogue, and Rev. Dann Pantoja, an Evangelist, who underscored the role of faith-based communities in advancing peace beyond religious and cultural boundaries. Their shared message was clear: solidarity for Palestine transcends borders, beliefs, and identities.

The conference also featured in-depth panel discussions and sectoral engagements, culminating in simultaneous workshops that tackled key themes. These included children and youth solidarity actions, mobilizing humanitarian support for the diaspora, the role of academe and media, and women’s leadership in peacebuilding, bringing together representatives from various sectors to craft concrete and actionable strategies.

Outcomes from these breakout sessions included strengthened grassroots organizing, enhanced coordination of humanitarian assistance, improved strategies for responsible and fact-based media reporting, and expanded youth and women-led advocacy initiatives. Participants also emphasized the importance of sustained international engagement and policy advocacy to address the root causes of the conflict.

Notably, several policymakers and leaders from the Philippines and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) expressed firm commitments to pursue ethical economic actions, including the boycott of products, companies, and services linked to support for the ongoing war against Palestine. This reflects a growing alignment of local governance with global calls for justice and accountability.

The conference concluded with the presentation, refinement, and adoption of a unified conference statement and resolutions. These called for an immediate end to violence, the protection of civilians, unhampered humanitarian access, and stronger international accountability mechanisms, alongside sustained global solidarity efforts.

The two-day conference stood as a collective call to action. It reaffirmed that the struggle for Palestine is not only a regional concern but a shared human cause—one that demands truth, justice, and unwavering commitment from the international community.

The second day of the National Solidarity Conference for Palestine and the Call for Peace in the Middle East translated strong expressions of solidarity into concrete strategies, as civil society organizations, peace advocates, policymakers, international partners, and members of the Palestinian diaspora convened to deepen collaboration and define actionable pathways for sustained global support.

Building on the momentum of the opening day, Day 2 focused on transforming dialogue into coordinated action. Sessions highlighted the urgent need to strengthen humanitarian response, expand advocacy networks, and reinforce international solidarity grounded in justice and accountability.

A key highlight was the session on parliamentary and civil society solidarity, featuring Amina Rasul-Bernardo and Lanang T. Ali Jr., who emphasized the role of governance and civil institutions in advancing policy support and international cooperation for Palestine. Both underscored that solidarity must be institutionalized through policies that uphold human rights and humanitarian principles.

The conference then moved into simultaneous workshops under the theme of “Concrete Actions and Strategies for Solidarity,” bringing together leaders from various sectors to craft targeted responses.

In the session on children and youth solidarity, facilitated by Bai Shaima Baraquir, panelists including Datuan Magon Jr., Amin Hataman, and Mohd Al-Khaleel A. Bogabong emphasized the importance of empowering young people as advocates for peace. They highlighted initiatives focused on education, awareness-building, and youth-led campaigns to sustain global attention on Palestine.

The workshop on mobilizing humanitarian support for the diaspora in the Philippines, moderated by Yasmin Busran Lao, featured insights from Eisa Javier, and Jovie Galit. Discussions centered on strengthening coordination among organizations, improving resource mobilization, and ensuring that aid reaches Palestinian communities effectively.

In the session on the role of academia and media, moderated by Lobna Abu-Hamiadan, speakers including Meong Cabarde, Susan Kurlti, and filmmaker Gutierrez Mangansakan II highlighted the responsibility of educational institutions and media practitioners in shaping accurate narratives and countering misinformation about the situation in Palestine.

Meanwhile, the session on the role of women, led by Beth Yang, brought forward perspectives from women leaders such as Noraida Chio and Karen Tanada. They emphasized the critical role of women in peacebuilding, humanitarian work, and grassroots mobilization, calling for greater inclusion of women in decision-making processes.

The plenary session that followed consolidated the outputs of the workshops, presenting proposed strategies that include expanding grassroots solidarity movements, strengthening humanitarian networks, enhancing fact-based media engagement, and intensifying policy advocacy at both national and international levels.

Notably, several policymakers and leaders from the Philippines and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) reaffirmed their commitment to ethical economic actions, including the boycott of products, companies, and services linked to support for the ongoing war against Palestine. This marked a significant step in aligning local initiatives with global calls for accountability.

The day concluded with the presentation and refinement of the draft conference statement and resolutions, incorporating insights from various sectors and international partners. These were followed by final deliberations leading to a unified call for immediate cessation of violence, protection of civilians, unimpeded humanitarian access, and sustained international pressure for a just and lasting peace.

As the conference formally closed, participants underscored that solidarity must extend beyond expressions of support into sustained and coordinated action. The outcomes of the two-day gathering reflected a collective resolve to transform advocacy into impact—reinforcing that the call for justice in Palestine remains a shared global responsibility demanding urgency, unity, and unwavering commitment.

A diverse coalition of peace advocates, civil society leaders, academics, and members of the international community gathered in Davao City yesterday for the opening day of the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 and 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭. The event marked a significant step in strengthening global solidarity efforts and amplifying calls for justice, humanitarian action, and peace for Palestine and the Middle East.

The conference opened with welcome remarks from 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐁. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧, President of the League of Bangsamoro Organizations, who underscored the importance of unity among nations and peoples in addressing humanitarian crisis. He emphasized that solidarity must go beyond statements and translate into sustained action and cooperation.

Shared Struggles and Lessons in Peacebuilding

The keynote address was delivered by 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐌. 𝐈𝐪𝐛𝐚𝐥, Vice Chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (M**F) and Chair of its Peace Implementing Panel. In his speech, Iqbal drew parallels between the Palestinian struggle and the Bangsamoro peace process, highlighting lessons learned from decades of conflict resolution efforts in Mindanao.

He stressed that while contexts may differ, the pursuit of justice, dignity, and self-determination remains universal. “Peace is never achieved overnight,” he noted, “but through persistent dialogue, inclusivity, and the recognition of historical grievances.”

The keynote session was further enriched by reactions from key figures, including Palestinian Ambassador 𝐇.𝐄. 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐫 𝐘.𝐊. 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐬 (via Zoom), 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐨 of the Handala Project, Inc., and 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐚 𝐀. 𝐆𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐜, Director III on Muslim Affairs from the Office of Robin Padilla. Each speaker emphasized the urgency of international cooperation in addressing the worsening humanitarian situation in Palestine.

Strategic Dialogues on Peace and Solidarity
