"Go na go Ang ating mga bagong Eco-warriors"
Day 2 of Training Camp!
(Part 2)
In line with our continuous advocacy for environmental stewardship, the newly pledged Peer Educators successfully achieved the second day of a 3-day Camp entitled "Integrated Coastal and Marine Management towards Ecosystem and Community Resilience" aimed at fostering awareness, responsibility, and action toward ecological preservation. 🌎💚
On November 07, 2025 the second day of training Camp started as early as 8:00 in the morning where our participants took more or less twenty minutes travel to Sitio Balisungan, Barangay Tagumpay from the town proper of Coron. Together, they embarked on the journey of being a real Eco-warrior.
The first part of their training is to give assistance in cleaning the mangrove rehabilitation area. Due to the typhoon 'Tino' that hit Coron, and other Municipalities of Palawan last November 05, 2025; the water in our ocean rises, wave curls allowing some debris to be drifted in our mangrove areas. Fortunately, our new Eco-warriors just came right on time to give help and put into action what they have learned from Day- 1. They also understand more the importance of waste management, and biodiversity conservation, and the reality of becoming active agents of change in protecting our planet. 🌱
As part of the immersion activity, students visited Shalom women-managed mangrove area, where they learned about the different species of mangroves, explored the Mangrove Forest, Identified some of the endemic species can be found in Coron, experienced potting of mud mixture for the Mangrove nursery, observe SWBCA best practices and realized how community led conservation efforts play a vital role in sustaining coastal ecosystems. Headed by Ma'am Imelda Mazo the President of Shalom Women’s Biodiversity Conservation Association
They also explored the Award winning Marine Protected Area in Coron, Siete Picados Marine Park ; discovering the beauty and ecological importance of various sea grasses and coral species. The hands- on experience allowed them to appreciate the delicate balance of marine life and the urgent need for its protection. Instructed by the Park Manager himself Mr. Jose Mazo and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)
The activity ended with the shared reflections and appreciation of the students.
This meaningful experience deepened the students’ understanding of how collective action especially community and youth involvement can help build a greener, peaceful and more sustainable future for the people not just in Calamianes but also in the world. 💪🌏
