Maragusan National High School formally commenced its Intramurals 2026 today in a highly organized opening ceremony that gathered students, faculty members, school administrators, and local stakeholders in a unified celebration of athletic excellence, discipline, and school spirit. Anchored on the institutional theme โStrengthening Unity, Passion, Excellence, Resilience, and Brotherhood through Sports,โ the event underscores the schoolโs commitment to holistic learner development through competitive sports and values formation, as part of its preparation for the upcoming District Meet and MARVALAA Meet 2026.
The day opened with an Opening Parade at 7:00 AM, where students from various year levels and clusters showcased their respective team colors, banners, and organizational identity. The parade highlighted the schoolโs emphasis on unity and representation, as each contingent demonstrated coordination, pride, and preparedness for the week-long athletic competition.
Following the parade, the Opening Program commenced at 8:30 AM with a formal sequence of ceremonial activities designed to set the tone for the intramural season. The program began with an Invocation and the singing of the National Anthem, symbolizing both spiritual grounding and national identity among participants.
The Welcome Address was delivered by School Principal II, Maโam Exequila T. Matis, who emphasized the importance of sportsmanship, discipline, and active participation in school-based athletic programs as essential components of student development. She also highlighted the role of intramurals in fostering leadership, teamwork, and resilience among learners.
A significant ceremonial highlight was the Lighting of the Eternal Urn, led by Palaro gold medalists, qualifiers, and selected representatives per year level and cluster. This symbolic activity represented the ignition of competitive spirit, excellence, and unity across all participating teams.
Subsequently, the Hoisting of School and Team Banners was conducted, reinforcing institutional pride and team identity. The Oath of Sportsmanship was led by Francis Jayvee E. Dimzon, a Palaro Gold Medalist in Tennis, emphasizing fair play, integrity, and respect among competitors.
Messages of support and encouragement were delivered by key stakeholders, including Hon. Reynaldo Mantog, PTA President, and Hon. Cesar C. Colina Sr., Municipal Mayor duly represented by Hon. Ate Mariz Colina-Vendiola. Their messages collectively underscored the importance of PTA Support as well as the community involvement in youth development and sports advancement.
The Oath of Officiating Officials was administered by Sir Geofrey E. Hadlocon, DAVRAA Assistant Tournament Manager for Baseball, ensuring that standards of fairness, accuracy, and professionalism will be upheld throughout the competition.
The program also featured an Exhibition of DBC, showcasing athletic skill and performance artistry, followed by a Zumba Presentation from the Grade 12 Department, highlighting fitness awareness and student engagement. The Yellow Vipers were hailed as the champions, while the Black Howlers emerged as the 1st runner-up.
The ceremony concluded with a Closing Prayer led by SSLG President Rex Vincent M. Alderite, formally sealing the opening program and transitioning into the competitive segment of the Intramurals. School officials reiterated that Intramurals 2026 will serve as a platform for talent development, sports excellence, and character formation, reinforcing Maragusan National High Schoolโs commitment to producing well-rounded and value-driven learners.
With strong participation and institutional support, Intramurals 2026 is expected to deliver a weekend of disciplined competition, athletic performance, and strengthened camaraderie across the entire school community.
