โ"As an Environmental Engineering graduate, I did not have difficulty finding a job as long as I remained open to opportunities and willing to learn. I got my first job as a Safety Officer three months after graduation. Over the next two years, I explored different opportunities through job hopping, which allowed me to gain valuable experience from three different companies. Eventually, I found my place at Cebu Manila Water Development Inc.

โMy journey was not always easy. Along the way, many people questioned my credibility because Environmental Engineering is not a licensed profession. However, I learned that it is up to us how we respond to these challenges and prove our capabilities through hard work, competence, and dedication.

โWhen I joined Cebu Manila Water, I started as a Safety and Compliance Officer. Through perseverance and continuous learning, I was eventually promoted to Operations Section Head. This experience showed me that Environmental Engineering graduates are capable of excelling beyond the usual expectations associated with our field.

โOne important lesson that the Environmental Engineering program taught me is to never stop until you achieve your goals. Our course gave us strong foundational knowledge in different fields of engineering, which is why I believe Environmental Engineering graduates can succeed in various industries. We should never limit ourselves based on how others perceive us. Many people think that Environmental Engineers are only suited for Safety or PCO roles, but that is far from the truth. We are also capable of handling operations and leadership roles just like other engineers.

โAnother value that was deeply instilled in me during college is the pursuit of excellence. Whatever position we hold in our careers, we should always strive to do our work with integrity, professionalism, and excellence.
