On March 14–15, 2026, Barangay Beddeng Laud headed by PB Janna Frances Pajaro, in partnership with the City Government of Vigan, under the leadership of City Mayor Hon. Randolf V. Singson, through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office spearheaded by Ma’am Mila Alquiza, successfully conducted a two-day Refresher Course on Basic Life Support and Water Safety Training.

The activity aimed to enhance and reinforce the knowledge, skills, and preparedness of responders in delivering life-saving interventions and ensuring effective water safety response during emergencies and disaster situations.

Out of twenty-one (21) registered participants, a total of nineteen (19) successfully completed the training program. On the first day, the morning session was held at Lola Dora’s Backyard Resort, where participants were introduced to fundamental water safety skills, including proper breathing techniques, water entry methods, and basic swimming strokes. In the afternoon, the training continued at the Quirino Stadium Swimming Pool, where participants applied their acquired knowledge in a deeper and wider setting. They successfully performed a 15-minute water treading exercise and completed a 150-meter swim incorporating freestyle, elementary backstroke, and breaststroke. The session also covered essential rescue competencies such as knot tying, rescue approaches, and towing techniques, followed by return demonstrations.

On the second day, participants were evaluated in an open water environment. They completed a one-mile swim and participated in a Water Rescue Simulation Exercise designed to assess their overall competence, including their skills, knowledge, and decision-making abilities in critical scenarios.

Through this initiative, Barangay Beddeng Laud reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a well-prepared, highly skilled, and resilient community, ensuring that its responders remain capable and ready to save lives in times of emergencies.

Barangay Beddeng Laud extends its sincere gratitude to the City Government of Vigan for its unwavering support, to the Vigan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) for serving as facilitators, to the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur, and to Lola Dora’s Backyard Resort for the use of their swimming pool. Appreciation is also extended to all sponsors who generously supported the successful conduct of this training.

March 12, 2026 3:30 PM| our community successfully conducted the 1st Quarter 2026 National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) as part of our continuous efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness in the barangay. Residents actively participated in the drill by practicing the life-saving Duck, Cover, and Hold technique, demonstrating awareness and readiness in the event of an earthquake.

The activity was made more meaningful through the dedicated participation of our Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), who assisted in monitoring the safety and well-being of participants, and the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC) Members, who led and facilitated the simulation and ensured the proper ex*****on of the drill procedures.

Equally commendable was the involvement of the Junior Barangay Responders Organization (Jr. BRO), whose members enthusiastically took part in the activity and showcased the important role of youth in promoting disaster preparedness and community resilience.

Through this collective effort, our barangay once again demonstrated that preparedness is everyone’s responsibility. By working together, we continue to build a safer, more resilient, and disaster-ready community.

On March 01, 2025 the BDRRMC of Beddeng Laud Repainted the Flood Gauge Early Warning Systems at the flood prone areas to keep it visible, accurate, and ready for action. Clear gauges mean faster and better monitoring of rising water levels, helping the community stay alert during heavy rains.

This initiative was conducted successfully with the support of the City of Vigan headed by Mayor Randy Singson thru the office of CDRRMO headed by Maam Mila Alquiza, in which they provided the reflectorized paint that was utilized in the maintenance of the EWS.

Small actions like this make a big difference in disaster preparedness. By keeping our equipment in top shape, we ensure timely warnings, safer communities, and a stronger culture of readiness for floods.
