𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭

The spirit of student leadership continues to shine bright in Region XI as Vince Garcia, the Region XI Federated Supreme Secondary Learner Government (RFSSLG) President, triumphantly secured the position of Vice President in the National Federated Supreme Secondary Learner Government (NFSSLG) Election 2025 held at the Department of Education (DepEd) Dumaguete Division.

Representing the Davao City Division, Vince hails from Catalunan Pequeño National High School (CPNHS) in Davao City, bringing with him not only the pride of his school and city but also the hopes of the entire Davao Region.

Garcia was accompanied by Bonifacio Jr. V. Amit, Project Development Officer II and Regional Youth Formation Coordinator of Region XI, who expressed his pride in Vince’s commitment and leadership.

“Vince has always embodied what it means to be a servant leader, passionate, grounded, and visionary. His victory is not just for himself but for every student leader in Region XI who believes in making a difference,” Amit said.

His leadership journey, which began in his local school community in CPNHS, has now taken him to the national level, where he will continue to champion the voice of secondary learners across the country.

“This victory is not mine alone. It belongs to every young leader who dreams of serving with purpose. I will carry the values of Davao Region with me as I work for the betterment of learners nationwide,” Garcia shared with humility.

The National Federated Supreme Secondary Learner Government serves as the highest governing body for secondary student leaders in the Philippines, working closely with the Department of Education to promote learner participation, leadership development, and nation-building initiatives.

“When our learners are given the chance to lead, they remind us that the future is already here and it’s in good hands,” Amit added.

As Garcia accepted his new role, the Region XI FSSLG Family stands proudly behind him, celebrating a young leader whose passion and dedication continue to inspire others to lead, serve, and make an impact.

𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓!

To safeguard the welfare of all students due to the recent twin tremors and its aftershocks, DepEd Davao City Division will implement MODULAR, AND ASYNCHRONOUS or BLENDED LEARNING starting tomorrow, October 15, 2025 until further notice.

Teaching personnel are not required to report onsite, while non-teaching personnel shall continue to report to ensure the continuity of essential school operations.

Teachers are also directed to monitor the conduct of blended learning, ensure the continuity of learning activities, and provide necessary learner support.

Let us remain vigilant and prioritize our safety while continuing our pursuit of learning.

Davao City Earthquake Update
As of 9:00 PM, October 10, 2025

To give way to the ongoing structural assessment of infrastructures and facilities, CLASSES IN ALL LEVELS, both public and private educational institutions in Davao City, are hereby SUSPENDED UNTIL MONDAY, October 13, 2025.

The City Engineer’s Office, in coordination with the Department of Education – Davao City, will continue to inspect and assess all public schools across the city over the weekend to ensure the safety of learners.

Meanwhile, the Office of the City Building Official (OCBO), in coordination with the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), is currently conducting rapid structural assessments. The OCBO is prioritizing structures that were previously flagged for issues related to structural safety. OCBO urges all building owners to prioritize occupants’ safety, promptly carry out thorough structural evaluations of their facilities, and report any major defects discovered during or after the earthquake, to the appropriate authorities.
