𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐈𝐍 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐕𝐈𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓!

A huge thank you to 𝐃𝐚𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐩 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥! Earlier today, we had a highly successful Mangrove Symposium, bringing together minds that care about our planet's future.

This impactful initiative was proudly headed by our SK 3rd Councilor for Environmental Protection and Disaster Risk Resilience, 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐂𝐥𝐲𝐝𝐞 𝐒. 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐳.

Protecting our coastlines starts with education and action. Together, we are planting the seeds for a greener, more resilient tomorrow!

As the Author of the said Resolutions and MOA, and Chairman Committee on Environmental Protection, this initiative is truly a pride and a reminder that youth-led environmental action can create lasting impact for future generations.

Together, let us continue protecting our mangroves, preserving our coastlines, and building a greener tomorrow.

As part of our historic Ceremonial Signing of the Joint SK Resolutions and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for Mangrove Conservation, participating officials and stakeholders took their commitment one step further by signing our Official Mangrove Pledge Commitment Board.

More than just signatures, each name inscribed on this board symbolizes a shared promise to protect, restore, and sustain the mangrove ecosystems that serve as the lifeline of our coastal communities. Every pledge represents a collective commitment to environmental stewardship, climate resilience, and the preservation of our natural heritage for future generations.

This meaningful activity reminds us that genuine change begins with personal responsibility and united action. While the documents have formalized our partnership, the Mangrove Pledge Board stands as a visible testament to our dedication and accountability in fulfilling our environmental commitments.

The ink may have dried, but our mission continues. Together, we will nurture the roots of conservation, strengthen our coastlines, and inspire communities to become active guardians of our marine environment.

Today, we pledged.
Tomorrow, we act.
For generations, we protect.

The Sangguniang Kabataan proudly shares these highlights from the Ceremonial Signing of the Joint SK Resolutions and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for Mangrove Conservation, held on May 13, 2026.

This milestone event marked the beginning of a stronger inter-barangay commitment toward environmental stewardship, coastal protection, and climate resilience. Through the signing of these agreements, participating SK Councils formally united in advancing sustainable mangrove conservation initiatives, coastal clean-up activities, environmental education campaigns, and youth-led ecological programs.

The ceremony serves as a testament to the power of collaboration among young leaders who recognize that protecting our mangrove ecosystems is not only an environmental responsibility but also an investment in the safety and future of our coastal communities.

As we move forward, this partnership will continue to strengthen local actions that preserve biodiversity, protect shorelines from storms and erosion, and inspire greater community participation in environmental conservation.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all SK officials, Barangay Leaders, environmental advocates, and partner stakeholders who made this historic undertaking possible. Your support reinforces our shared vision of creating greener, safer, and more resilient communities for future generations.

Together, we lead. Together, we protect. Together, we build a sustainable future.

This initiative is our collective promise to the future. By institutionalizing quarterly clean-ups and advocating for the 2026 Mangrove Ordinance, we are building a natural shield for Dapdap, San Juan, Esperanza, Imelda, Lanao, and Montserrat. We lead the charge in climate change adaptation because we know that protecting our roots is the only way to protect our people.

𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈’𝐦 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬

There is a profound sense of peace that comes with the ebb and flow of the tide, especially when you’re standing among the tangled, sturdy roots of a mangrove forest.

I feel incredibly privileged to have been born and raised on this island—a place where the sea meets the soil in the most beautiful, complex way possible. Growing up here didn’t just give me a home; it gave me a front-row seat to one of nature’s most vital survival stories.

🌊 More Than Just Trees
For many, mangroves are just "bushes in the water." But for those of us who live alongside them, we know they are the silent guardians of our shores. Being exposed to conservation efforts from a young age has taught me that:

They are our first line of defense: Mangroves act as natural buffers, absorbing the energy of storm surges and protecting our coastal homes from erosion.

They are the ocean's nursery: Countless species of fish, crabs, and shrimp begin their lives sheltered within these roots. Without them, our local fisheries—and our dinner tables—would vanish.
They are climate champions: These forests are "blue carbon" powerhouses, sequestering carbon at rates far higher than many terrestrial forests.
