The 17th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Cebu has encouraged Local Chief Executives (LCEs) to prioritize the regularization of tourism officers and their employees and to formally establish tourism offices.

Fifth District Board Member Andrei “Red” Duterte sponsored the resolution encouraging these tourism initiatives.

The Cebu Provincial Board recognizes that a significant number of tourism officers and staff remain in contractual, casual, or job order status despite the critical role they play.

This situation leaves tourism officers and staff without security of tenure, benefits, and the protections accorded to regular government employees.

“The regularization of tourism officers and their employees is essential to ensuring continuity of service, institutional knowledge, and program implementation, as high personnel turnover due to job insecurity undermines the effectiveness of tourism initiatives,” the Resolution states.

Board Member Duterte also filed a resolution requesting the Cebu Provincial Government to provide an equitable subsidy to local government units (LGUs) to support them in creating their respective Tourism Master Plans.

The said Resolutions were co-authored by Seventh District Board Member Paz Rozgoni and approved by the sanggunian during its regular session last Monday, April 27, 2026.

Malampuson nga napaubos sa Cebu Provincial Tourism Office sa duha ka adlaw nga Tourism Frontliners Seminar ang mga bangkero sa lungsod sa Cordova, samtang gisugdan kagahapon ang pagpaubos sa susamang seminar ang mga bangkero sa Daanbantayan.

Ang inisyatiba nagpalig-on sa mahinungdanong papel sa mga bangkero alang sa luwas, responsable, ug dekalidad nga mga kasinatian sa turismo sa Sugbo.

Atol sa maong pagbansay, ang mga partisipante nasangkapan sa mga importanteng kahibalo ug kahanas. Ang maong mahinungdanon nga sesyon naghatag kanila og ideya kabahin sa Industriya sa Turismo sa Pilipinas, Proteksyon sa mga Kababayen-an ug mga kabataan, Tourism Awareness and Basic Reception Techniques, ug Basic Water Safety and Survival Techniques.

The Cebu Association of Local Tourism Officers fully supports the ongoing Turista Iwas Scam Campaign, spearheaded by the Department of Tourism Region VII, aimed at protecting tourists and ensuring safe and trustworthy tourism experiences in Cebu. This initiative comes in response to the rising reports of fraudulent booking activities, overcharging, and other scam-related incidents that have affected both local and international visitors. By collaborating closely with the Department of Tourism, CALTO emphasizes the importance of responsible booking, verifying accommodation and tour services, and reporting suspicious activities to the authorities.

This campaign highlights the collective commitment of the tourism sector in Cebu to ensure that every visitor enjoys a memorable, secure, and scam-free experience. By fostering vigilance, transparency, and cooperation, CALTO and the Department of Tourism aim to minimize scam issues while promoting a culture of trust in the tourism industry.
