Corruption and Poor Urban Planning: Two Sides of the Same Deadly Coin

Every time a typhoon hits, we call it a natural disaster. And yes, nature plays its part but what turns rain into a catastrophe is not just the weather, it’s the cost of corruption. The price of shortcuts, the result of years of neglect, greed, and dirty politics that’s disguised as “development.”

People lose their homes, their livelihoods, and some unfortunately their lives while the ones who caused it live comfortably behind gates, posting their lavish lifestyles online like they didn’t help build this tragedy brick by brick.

It’s disgusting. It’s infuriating. And it should never be forgotten!

Yet time and again, the same cycle plays out: headlines, outrage, hearings… then silence. Trials drag on until people move on which is exactly what they want.

We can’t let that happen again. We can’t get tired of demanding accountability! Because corruption kills just as surely as floodwaters do.

Every delayed case, every stolen peso, every substandard project, they all have names and faces of people who paid the ultimate price.

And while we take pride in Filipino resilience, we must stop romanticizing it! Resilience is admirable, but it should never be an excuse for failure or corruption. The powerful have learned to rely on it, to use our strength as a reason not to change. THAT HAS TO END.

Because it doesn’t have to be this way.
Countries like Japan, the Netherlands, and Singapore face heavy rains too, yet they don’t crumble under them; they planned ahead. They invested in real flood control, good governance, and accountability. They built systems that protect people, not profits.

We can do this too as long as we choose integrity over corruption, and long-term solutions over quick gains.

Let’s stop letting them slip away with time.
Let’s make remembering an act of resistance.
Let’s make justice non-negotiable.

It’s time to stand up! BAROG para sa bawat Pilipinong karapat-dapat sa isang mas ligtas, mas tapat, at mas handang bansa. ✊🇵🇭

Because rebuilding isn’t just about structures.
It’s about standing tall against injustice and refusing to let corruption wash us away again!

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck Bogo City, Cebu at 9:59 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, according to Phivolcs.

The tremor was also felt in Cebu City.

We’re so grateful to everyone who shared what they could and trusted us with their support. Because of your collective generosity, including heartfelt contributions from Marikriss A. and Mathias R., we were able to raise a total of ₱39,383 to help make our recent relief mission possible. 🙏

Of that, ₱32,004 was spent on supplies, transportation, and logistics. The remaining balance will be kept for our next project or mission, so your kindness continues to reach more communities in need.

What began as a simple wish to help those affected by the earthquake in North Cebu grew into something truly meaningful, thanks to the kindness, generosity, and teamwork of so many amazing people.

It was heartwarming to see everyone come together, donating goods, offering financial support, volunteering time, coordinating logistics, organizing venues, and simply showing up in their own quiet yet powerful ways. Every effort, big or small, carried the same weight of compassion and made a real difference.

To our families, friends, and volunteers, thank you for trusting us to forward your kindness and to carry your compassion to those who needed it most. Your sincerity and support were felt deeply in every step of this journey.
