Zonta Cebu II and Youth Inspire Sustainable Living Through Gardening
Beyond the clean-up effort, the day continued with a meaningful lesson in sustainabilityโplanting seeds and nurturing new life.
Members of the Zonta Club of Cebu II, alongside Z Club student members of Our Lady of Joy Learning Center and Childlink Learning School, were guided through the basics of planting and growing seedsโequipping them with practical knowledge they can apply in their own homes.
The activity emphasized that caring for the environment goes beyond a single day of action. By encouraging the students to grow plants in their own backyards, the initiative planted not only seeds in the soil, but also a deeper sense of responsibility and connection to nature.
In the midst of a warm and humid day, the participants embraced the experience with enthusiasmโfinding joy in learning and purpose in contributing to a greener future.
Together, they discovered that even the smallest seeds, when nurtured, can grow into lasting change.
Special thanks to Ar. Mary Rose Villacastin Maghuyop, Administrator of Our Lady of Joy Learning Center in Jugan, Consolacion, and a Zonta member, for facilitating the planting activity, arranging the venue at the Eco-Park, coordinating with the concerned LGUs and the Department of Agriculture, and for inviting Cherry P. Ballescas of The Freeman.
