REMEMBERING DR. LUDI VILLANUEVA
October 12 | His 85th Birthday
❤️ A LEGACY OF SERVICE. A GIFT OF HOPE. A LIFE THAT CONTINUES TO TOUCH OTHERS. 📚
Today, on what would have been the 85th birthday of Dr. Ludovico “Ludi” Villanueva, we honor a remarkable physician, humanitarian, and visionary whose compassion extended far beyond the walls of his medical practice.
In 1976, Dr. Ludi founded the Philippine-American Medical Association of Georgia (PAMAG), together with fellow Filipino physicians in Atlanta. His vision helped build an organization dedicated not only to advancing healthcare, but also to uplifting communities and creating opportunities for Filipinos in need.
Through PAMAG, his legacy of service continues through:
🩺 Medical, Surgical and Dental Missions — bringing essential healthcare to underserved communities in the Philippines.
🎓 Scholarships and Education — helping deserving Filipino students pursue their dreams and build better futures for themselves and their families.
📚 Literacy and the Gift of Reading — supporting initiatives that bring books and learning opportunities to children and communities with limited access to educational resources.
🏫 Disaster Relief and School Reconstruction — extending assistance to families affected by natural calamities and helping communities rebuild and recover.
These initiatives reflect a powerful belief: that service should reach people wherever the need is greatest, whether through healing a sick patient, educating a young scholar, placing a book in a child’s hands, or helping a community rise again after a disaster.
And today, through Alimbukad: Basa Pamilya, that beautiful legacy finds another way to live on.
In loving memory of Dr. Ludi, his beloved wife, Virginia Uy Villanueva, has generously contributed US$500 to support Alimbukad: Basa Pamilya. This heartfelt gift will provide many wonderful new children’s books for young readers in marginalized communities and public elementary schools, nurturing their love for reading and opening doors to knowledge, imagination, and brighter possibilities.
Through Virginia’s generosity, Dr. Ludi’s legacy of compassion and service continues to touch young lives, one child and one book at a time.
Each book will open a window to imagination, nurture curiosity, strengthen literacy, and help a child discover possibilities beyond their present circumstances.
A physician helps heal the body. A book helps nourish the mind. And a life devoted to service can inspire both.
Dr. Ludi, although you are no longer physically with us, the seeds of compassion you planted continue to grow—in the patients whose lives were touched by PAMAG’s missions, in the students given opportunities through scholarships, in communities rebuilding after calamities, and now, in the young readers who will discover the joy of books through Alimbukad.
To Virginia, our heartfelt gratitude for honoring your beloved husband’s memory through a gift that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children. Your generosity ensures that his legacy of caring for others continues to inspire another generation.
