A community-led, education programme through purposeful-play, to protect, educate and, empower girls (and boys) from marginalised communities through the universal power of football.
We believe that football, as the world’s most watched, played and most profitable sport has the unique ability to bring together, inspire and foster positive social change. We are tired talking about equality; through football, we want to kick it into action!
Where is it Happening?
The programme is underway in the Philippines. Supporters of the GCL include, the FIFA Foundation, the UEFA Foundation, Common Goal and, the International Olympic Committee, respectively. The GCL programme is a locally led movement supported through a global framework, known as the UN Global Goals.
Our focus is to grow GCL across Asia, where poverty, inequality and inadequate education impacts over 400 Million girls and boys every single day.
Who is Already In?
GCL is part of ‘Football for Good’, a global movement that both the football industry and football players are leading. Common Goal, an initiative of Juan Mata, has already attracted over 100 professional players, clubs and high-level executives.
Shinji Kagawa is supporting FundLife in delivering our work in the Philippines and growing the GCL to new communtiies.
How Are We Doing It?
Through global strategic and development partners, including the UN, we are engaging supporters, players and industry to use the power of football for the social, cultural and emotional progress of young people and communities.
We believe it takes a team to win a game and it takes a committed team to help create a world where all girls and boys receive a quality education and be given an opportunity to reach their full potential – that is our dream for the GCL and for the world!
