JCI Cebu Lakan Bahaghari joins the National Launching of “Beyond Prison Walls” at Cebu City Jails ✨🫶🤝
Cebu City, Philippines – [August 27, 2025] – Together with our sisters in JCI WoMandaue and fellow chapters nationwide, JCI Cebu Lakan Bahaghari proudly co-hosted the National Launching of JCI Philippines’ flagship program, Beyond Prison Walls, held at the Cebu City Jail Annex – Male and Female Dormitories.
This meaningful initiative brought care and dignity to our Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) through the turnover of:
🧴 1,300 hygiene kits
💊 Hundreds of boxes of medicines and vitamins
🩺 12 blood pressure apparatuses, oximeters, and essential medical supplies
✂️ Barber kits
🧡 Plus other health and wellness support items to uplift lives inside the facility.
The launch was led by NEVP Atty. Patrick Maglinao, National Chair Ezekiel Garcia, and Regional Chair Lara Cabahug-Sayson, and strongly supported by our partners from Lions Club International – District 301-B2.
JCI Cebu Lakan Bahaghari was honored to be represented by our very own 2024 President and Area Chair for Beyond Prison Walls, Police Major Ian Macatangay, together with our 2025 Interim President, Christian Ian Sy and 2026 President-Elect of JJC United Cebu Kampilan Jefferson Te. Their presence highlighted our chapter’s deep commitment to advancing compassion, inclusivity, and rehabilitation opportunities for our PDLs.
As NEVP Atty. Patrick Maglinao shared:
“Beyond Prison Walls reflects our belief that hope and opportunities must extend to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. This initiative brings not only essential support but also a message of compassion and inclusion for our PDLs.”
The launch in Cebu also strengthens JCI’s collaboration with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and partners who champion rehabilitation, dignity, and reintegration for PDLs—reminding us that humanity and service know no boundaries.
At JCI Cebu Lakan Bahaghari, we stand firm in our commitment to build bridges of compassion, inclusivity, and second chances. Together, we rise beyond prison walls.
