🌍 June 12 — World Day Against Child Labour

160 million children worldwide are still trapped in child labour. That's nearly 1 in 10 children — and progress is moving 11 times too slowly to meet global elimination targets.

As a children's rights and welfare NGO in the Philippines, The Children's Legal Bureau stands in solidarity with the UN's call to end child labour and exploitation in all its forms.

We echo this call — and we go further. We call on our local officials, governing bodies, and fellow NGOs to unite, collaborate, and take decisive action. Because the data is clear:

📌 61% of child labour occurs in agriculture
📌 Sub-Saharan Africa & Asia-Pacific carry the heaviest burden
📌 Conflicts, poverty, and lack of social protection keep children vulnerable

Quality, accessible education is not just a right — it is one of the most powerful tools we have against child labour and trafficking. No child should work instead of learn.

No child should be exploited instead of protected. Together, let's build a Philippines — and a world — free from the exploitation of our children. 💙

The Children's Legal Bureau successfully streamed the recorded session of Part 2: Accessible Justice to Children: Respecting and Enforcing Children's Rights under our special anniversary episode, “29 Years Forward: Strengthening the Advocacy for Child’s Rights and Freedom.” in collaboration with Pilipinas Studio - Visayas.

The discussion featured insights from CLB lawyers Atty. Joan Dymphna Saniel-Amit, Atty. Kristine Marciana Laplana-Conje, and Atty. Euvic Ferrer, with Atty. Kara Mae Noveda serving as facilitator. Together, they explored children's access to justice and effective remedies, while providing a deeper discussion on the UNCRC Draft General Comment No. 27 and its significance in ensuring that justice systems uphold, respect, and protect the rights of every child.

As we celebrate another year of advancing children's rights, we remain committed to fostering meaningful conversations that strengthen access to justice and uphold every child's right to be heard, protected, and treated with fairness.

Throughout the month, we successfully conducted four (3) radio program episodes, featuring meaningful discussions on Child Labor, Child Grooming, and OSAEC & CSAEM (Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children, Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials).

The episodes were made possible through the participation of our dedicated Child Rights Advocates (CRAs) - SAFE - C, guest speakers, and CLB staff who generously shared their knowledge and experiences.

These discussions aimed to raise awareness, promote child rights, and encourage communities to take an active role in protecting and empowering children.

Last May 30, 2026, at Barangay Danglag Gymnasium, Consolacion, Cebu, we proudly held a successful 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 that served a total of 84 clients from the community.

Through this initiative, residents were able to access essential services including:
