GETUP kicked off its NSTP culmination activity on May 25 2024, Saturday, with an engaging learning session alongside the kids from Sitio Camagong and St. Francis in Barangay Lahug. In collaboration with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and the barangay officials of Lahug, NSTP Block G students and Miss Jae Mari Magdadaro, their adviser, organized a fun learning session designed to cultivate joy and a love for reading among these young learners. ๐๏ธ๐
During the event, NSTP students performed a childrenโs play titled โNaay Bagyo, Mangadam Ta!" in front of the kids, a Bisaya short story from Huni-huni. The story itself aims to raise awareness among children and parents about disaster preparedness, highlighting what to do before, during, and after a calamity. ๐ญโค๏ธ
This initiative served a dual purpose by not only promoting the love of reading through an engaging play but also by educating participants on the importance of disaster risk reduction and management. The interactive sessions were met with enthusiasm, with attendees absorbing valuable insights on reading and disaster preparedness. โจ๐ป
