With heavy hearts, the USJ-R School of Law Alumi Association, Inc. joins the legal community in mourning the passing of Ret. Judge Meinrado P. Paredes on July 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated public service, integrity, and unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of law.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and his Bachelor of Laws (Juris Doctor) from the University of San Jose-Recoletos.

He served with distinction as Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Branch 13, Cebu City, as Acting Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 14, Cebu City, and subsequently as Executive Judge of the Regional Trial Court of Cebu City by faithfully and diligently discharging his duties with competence, integrity, and independence, upholding the highest standards of public service.

He also devoted himself to legal education as a law professor by teaching generations of law students through his wisdom, experience, and commitment to the legal profession.

In recognition of his distinguished career and exemplary public service, the University of San Jose - Recoletos conferred upon him the distinction of “Most Outstanding Alumnus in the Field of Legal Profession and Government,” a fitting tribute to his outstanding contributions to the legal profession and public service.

May his legacy continue to inspire champions of justice in the faithful service of the law.
