August is here, and it’s time to put our eyes in the spotlight! From our everyday routines to those late night study sessions, our eyes are always working, so this month, let’s give them the care and attention they deserve.

Join us as we officially open Sight Saving Month 2026, kicking off a month dedicated to raising awareness, encouraging early eye care, and promoting better eye health with this year’s theme: “𝘚𝘦𝘦 𝘊𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺, 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺: 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘚𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘌𝘺𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩”

In Optometry, vision matters—and so does having the vision to chase every opportunity that comes your way.

The College of Optometry Student Council held its volleyball tryouts last August 5 at Golden Success College for the upcoming Siglakas.

From powerful serves to solid receives and well-timed spikes, our aspiring student-athletes showed up, gave their best, and played with heart. More than just finding players for the roster, the tryouts brought our students together through teamwork, competition, and love for the game. 🧡

The court was filled with hustle, teamwork, and determination as our Optometry students took on the basketball tryouts for the upcoming Siglakas.

From every shot to every assist and every defensive play, our players gave their best and showed their love for the game.

This was more than just a tryout—it was the first step toward building the team that will represent us in Siglakas. 🏆🏀

For two nights,𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗼 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗸 provided a dedicated study space for Optometry students as they prepared for the P1 Examination.

A heartfelt thank you to our Optometry interns who stayed on standby to assist and support everyone throughout the study period. Your guidance and willingness to help were truly appreciated.

Healthy vision begins with awareness and action. This Sight Saving Month, let's recognize the importance of regular eye examinations, early screening, and making eye health a part of our everyday lives.

Many vision problems can be prevented or managed when detected early. By taking simple steps today, we can protect our sight and enjoy a future filled with clearer, healthier vision.

Let's work together to spread awareness because every eye deserves the chance to see clearly and live fully.
