After the effects of Typhoon Tino, Philippine sport must do more than win medals and glory— it must help community resilience.

We enjoy sports for various reasons. But how can we enjoy the sport we love when we experience calamities?

Sport have opportunities to add value to society! The sports community (Athletes, coaches, organizers, and fans) can contribute more by working together with the Government and the Private Sector.

Let’s build a sports culture that empowers the next generation. Afterall, sports is more than just a game.

FSFI Completes Two UN Courses on Sports for Climate Action — and Calls on Stakeholders to Join the Movement! 🌍🏀📚

In its continued pursuit of sustainability and climate leadership through sports, the Filanthropic Sports Federation Inc. (FSFI) proudly announces that its Founder & President, Kurt Daniel Amores, has successfully completed two newly launched e-learning courses on Sports for Climate Action, developed by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and UN Climate Change, with support from adidas.

The first course, Introduction to Sports for Climate Action, explores the links between sports and climate change — how sports impact and are affected by climate systems, and how they can be used to champion environmental responsibility. The second, Sports for Climate Action, is designed for organizations and professionals, providing in-depth strategies on embedding climate action into operations, governance, and stakeholder engagement.

As a recognized Philippine signatory to the global Sports for Nature Framework, FSFI is determined to contextualize this approach for the Philippine setting through programs like Palakasan Para Sa Kalikasan, working hand-in-hand with DENR, DILG, LGUs, civic organizations, and sports institutions.

🔊 We now invite all sports stakeholders — LGU leaders, coaches, athletes, schools, leagues, and advocacy groups — to join this growing movement to green the sports sector and localize climate solutions. These free, globally recognized courses offer the knowledge and tools we need to shape a resilient, climate-smart sports ecosystem in the Philippines.

Initial Interfacing with Carcar City for Sustainable Sports Integration! 🌱🏀

September 7, 2025 – Filanthropic Sports Federation Inc. (FSFI) officials had the honor of being personally invited by the Local Government Unit of Carcar City, led by City Mayor Hon. Patrick Barcenas, along with City Councilor Hon. Inting Escobido and the Mayor’s Cup Chairperson, for an initial interfacing on integrating sustainability into local sports programming.

During the meeting, FSFI presented its flagship initiative, Palakasan Para Sa Kalikasan, highlighting how sports can serve as a strategic platform to promote environmental stewardship, circular economy principles, and community-driven climate action.

The discussions centered around introducing sustainability measures in the city's sport program, including waste reduction strategies, green event management, and civic-led environmental education. The LGU officials expressed strong support for the initiative, recognizing its potential to reinforce Carcar City’s commitment to sustainable development and civic empowerment.

FSFI looks forward to co-developing a meaningful partnership with Carcar City—turning the Mayor’s Cup into a champion event for nature, culture, and community well-being.
