Philippines History and its Caves
In pre historic time early Filipinos have utized caves in many ways like shelter, burial place and etc. When the Spanish established their rule and Filipinos revolted, they hid and established base on caves or along caves like Dagohoy's revolt which lasted the longest. The American's came and our revolutionaries were outmatched they again used caves as refuge. Also in the Japanese occupation when the allies retreated they hid in caves. But when Mac Arthur and the allied forces came the Japanese used caves as their fortified last stand.
There is more stories to be told on how our struggle for freedom have relied on our karst landscapes and caves. Let us value and protect our caves.
