Cebu City โ€“ The National Nutrition Council Region VII (NNC 7), in partnership with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), successfully conducted the 2nd Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Subnational Assembly on 21 November 2025 at Mezzo Hotel, Cebu City. The 2nd SUN Subnational Assembly, Youth Breakout Session brought together 15 youth members from dynamic organizations from across Central Visayas namely: CNU BAPASO, SK Pagsabungan, PAN-UCC, CNU English Fellows, and CNU Kapilak to strengthen their unified role in advancing nutrition advocacy. One of the key outputs was the creation of the official page, โ€œCentral Visayas Scaling Up Nutrition Youth Sector,โ€ which will serve as the central hub for youth-led nutrition initiatives, awareness campaigns, and community engagement activities. To ensure consistent and meaningful content, the group agreed on weekly posting responsibilities: PAN-UCC will feature nutrition-focused posts every Wednesday; CNU BAPASO will share SUN Youth content every Monday and Friday; SK Pagsabungan will highlight health-related activities every Tuesday and Thursday; CNU English Fellows will craft captions for social media communication; and CNU Kapilak will produce pubmats, captions, and help strengthen academicโ€“business collaboration within the SUN network.

Beyond social media advocacy, the youth sector also committed to concrete community-based actions to address malnutrition in vulnerable groups. In partnership with SK councils across various barangays in Metro Cebu, they will implement a feeding program guided by PAN-UCC to ensure proper meal planning and a nutritionally balanced cycle menu for the LGUs involved. To further promote holistic well-being, the group will organize a Nutri Fun Run in collaboration with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), aiming to introduce physical activity to all age groups. The Nutri Fun Run will also serve as the overall SUN Network initiative for the 52nd Nutrition Month Launching, showcasing a unified effort among youth and partner organizations to champion healthier, more active communities. Together, these initiatives reflect the growing leadership of the SUN Youth Sector in mobilizing young people, strengthening multisectoral collaboration, and driving community-centered solutions for improved nutrition across Central Visayas. // ND II Mary Gessa A.
