On September 21, 1972, President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. signed Proclamation No. 1081, formally placing the Philippines under ππΌππππΌπ ππΌπ, or π½πΌππΌπ ππππππΌπ, and ushering the country into a period of military rule.
Its legacy lives on in the stories of those who suffered, the lives lost, the families who carried pain, and the voices who dared to speak. For many Filipinos, it became a painful reminder of what can happen when power grows beyond the limits of accountability.
To commemorate Martial Law is not about staying trapped in the past, but learning from it. Let history be our mirror, not our prison. Let remembrance be our light, not our burden.
