Child Rights and Protection Programme (CRP) is being implemented by the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation – Integrated Development Center, Inc. in partnership to the Karl Kuebel Stiftung (KKS) with the European Union (EU). The project stimulates the dissemination of the good practices in establishing and strengthening community-based protection systems that allow broader reach to protect an
d prevent abuse and exploitation to highly at risk children in Cebu. It will continue to improve the situation of the most vulnerableFilipino children and young women whose human rights are often compromised. In line with this, JPIC-IDC will disseminate the word and spirit of the Child’s Rights and facilitate collectively in creating a protective environment within the community. This process will aim at gradually arriving at child-friendly community where the human dignity of the child is respected and where his rights in relation to protection, survival and development are put into the political agenda of local decision makers. Accordingly, JPIC-IDC will reach the street children and the young women into prostitution themselves, their families and their neighbors, in addition to preparing the right environment by enhancing the functionality of the community-based protection systems, while sensitizing state and non-state actors and the public of large. Indeed, the action will continue to promote greater participation of civil society groups at the local level for a better delivery of basic services and equal opportunities for the poorest marginalized groups. Overall, the action aims to address protection of the rights of women and children living in the slum areas and flesh trade spots of Cebu City through advocacy and community mobilization in raising public consciousness.
