The Brief Voyage of SuperFerry 11

Before she became Cebu Ferries' MV Our Lady of Banneux, this vessel made waves as SuperFerry 11 under WG&A SuperFerry!

Here’s a quick look at her short yet memorable history in Philippine waters:
β€‹πŸ”Ή Origins: Built in Japan as the Kobe Maru (Oshima Transportation), she was brought to the Philippines in 1995 by Carlos A. Gothong Lines as Our Lady of Akita 2.
πŸ”Ή The WG&A Era: Following the mega-merger in 1996, she officially entered service as SuperFerry 11.
πŸ”Ή Cebu Ferries Transfer: In 1999, she was transferred to regional subsidiary Cebu Ferries Corporation and renamed MV Our Lady of Banneux.
πŸ”Ή Fate: Later that same year, she ran aground off Matalom, Southern Leyte. She was eventually decommissioned and sent to the shipbreakers in 2003.

Did you know she is Dona Virginia of WLI sister?

Before 2GO Maligaya and 2Go Masagana dominated the horizon, one legendary vessel stood as the undisputed giant of the Philippine seas.

Standing at 23,824 GT and stretching nearly 196 meters long, MV Princess of the Stars held the title of the largest domestic passenger liner ever to sail in Philippine waters for years. A true titan of her era, she defined inter-island travel long before today’s modern flagship liners took over the routes.

For ship spotters and historians alike, her scale and footprint remain an unforgettable chapter in Philippine maritime history.
