This award celebrates an entrepreneur who creates shared economic opportunities while promoting equity, dignity, ethical practices, and sustainable growth.

Eligible nominees must be a prime mover, founder, or owner actively leading a business that has operated continuously for at least three years.

Nominate an entrepreneur who demonstrates:
• Inclusive and purpose-driven leadership
• Measurable benefits for underserved communities
• Ethical and responsible business practices
• Integration of marginalized groups as producers, suppliers, distributors, service providers, or customers

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VII and the Cebu Food Consultancy Group, conducted an Allergen Control and Management Session at the DOST Regional Innovation Hub, S&T Complex, Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.

The session brought together food industry professionals to strengthen their knowledge and practices on food allergens, prevention of cross-contact, allergen labeling and declaration, and effective control measures to help ensure food safety and protect consumers.

The initiative is part of CCCI’s continuing support for Cebu’s MSMEs and food businesses through technical learning opportunities and industry partnerships that help strengthen food safety competitiveness and practices.

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) welcomed Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Cebu District Collector Atty. Zsae Carrie C. De Guzman during a courtesy meeting on August 10, 2026, at the Don Ramon Aboitiz Boardroom, Cebu Chamber Centre.

The meeting brought together presidents of Cebu’s chambers of commerce, representatives of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), industry groups, and stakeholders from the trade and logistics sector to welcome the new District Collector and discuss key concerns affecting Cebu’s business community.

Among the matters discussed were shipment processing, valuation and classification, system-related delays, and the need for clear and timely communication between Customs and the business community.

Atty. De Guzman expressed her openness to engaging with business stakeholders and addressing legitimate concerns within the Bureau’s mandate. She also emphasized the importance of cooperation between Customs and the private sector in supporting efficient business operations while meeting the Bureau’s revenue objectives.

The business community, for its part, expressed support for initiatives that can help improve Cebu’s position as a logistics hub. Participants also highlighted the value of regular dialogue in addressing operational concerns and improving the movement of goods through the Port of Cebu.

The meeting marked an opportunity for CCCI and the BOC Port of Cebu to strengthen their working relationship and maintain an open channel for dialogue on trade and logistics concerns affecting Cebu’s business community.

The University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) has successfully concluded its participation in the Flood Hero Cebu Movement, further strengthening the growing network of educational institutions under the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) that champion environmental sustainability and responsible plastic waste management.

Throughout its month-long participation, USPF actively engaged its students, faculty, staff, and campus community in proper PET bottle segregation and recycling through the Flood Hero PET Bottle Receptacle Bin. More than a collection point, the bin has become a symbol of collective environmental responsibility, transforming simple daily habits into meaningful environmental action while fostering a culture of sustainability across participating campuses.

The University's commitment to sustainability extends beyond recycling initiatives. Across the campus, students and employees are encouraged to use reusable tumblers as part of USPF's efforts to reduce dependence on single-use plastic bottles. This everyday practice complements the Flood Hero advocacy by promoting waste reduction at the source while cultivating environmentally responsible habits within the campus community.

Despite the growing use of reusable containers, USPF collected 25 kilograms of assorted PET plastic bottles during the campaign. The collection reflects the University's sustained commitment to responsible waste segregation and environmental stewardship, ensuring that recyclable plastics are properly recovered and diverted toward meaningful environmental solutions.

The collected PET plastic bottles were formally turned over to the Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO), where they will be repurposed into floating trash trap intervenors designed to help protect Cebu's rivers and coastal waters from plastic pollution. Through this initiative, recyclable waste collected on campus is transformed into practical environmental solutions that contribute to cleaner waterways and more resilient communities.

CCCI extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Janet Arcana, Vice President for Support Services and External Affairs, and Ms. Grace Clabisillas, Student Affairs Services Director, for their invaluable support and coordination throughout the University's month-long participation. Their leadership, together with the active involvement of the USPF community, demonstrates how educational institutions can play a vital role in advancing environmental stewardship and sustainable waste management.

As USPF concludes its chapter in the movement, the Flood Hero PET Bottle Receptacle Bin now finds its new home at the Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus, where it will continue inspiring students, faculty, and staff to practice responsible PET bottle segregation and recycling.

With each institutional handover, the Flood Hero Cebu Movement continues to strengthen its mission of building a cleaner, greener, and more resilient Cebu. By empowering schools and communities to adopt sustainable waste management practices, the movement demonstrates that lasting environmental change begins with everyday actions.
