CTU-Main Team Exelia tops Cebu leg of IBPAP hackathon
Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus widened its competitive reach as Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCpE) and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students topped the Cebu leg of Can You HackIT? The IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) Challenge 2026, held at Cebu Institute of Technology - University (CIT-U) on August 17, 2026.
Team Exelia bagged first place with CivicLens under the Transparent and Accountable Systems track. The minds behind the breakthrough are composed of fourth-year BSCpE students Mikaela Vianca G. Molina, Joanne R. Georfo, John Vincent D. Augusto, Jonrheym P. Remegia, and third-year BSIT student Tyrone M. Tabornal.
CivicLens is a civic technology solution equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities designed to provide transparency improvement and community visibility, with a focus on public infrastructure projects.
In her statement, Georfo emphasized the team's camaraderie that contributed to their win, "This win was built through our team's grit, whether we lose or winโwe [kept] going. Each one taught us something and pushed us to improve."
The team previously won third place during the ImaGnation: The GCash Innovation Challenge and second place in Code to Creation: Argus Hackathon in 2025, which motivated the team to aim higher and keep competing.
"After countless hours of building, refining, pitching, and learning together, hearing that Exelia won first place was an unforgettable moment. It showed us that the setbacks, late nights, and lessons from every competition were worth it," Georfo added.
Following their victory, Team Exelia is set to present CivicLens at the International IT-BPM Summit 2026 at Okada Manila in Paraรฑaque City.
Congratulations, Team Exelia!
