Rest in peace, our dearest ka-Hector 🕊😔

We at the Philippine Association of Nutrition, Inc. mourn the passing of Mr. Hector C. Maglalang (29 December 1957 - 02 August 2026), a beloved leader, mentor, and friend.

Mr. Maglalang served as PAN President from 2024 to 2025 and remained an ex-officio member until his passing. He received the most recent Dr. Francisco O. Santos Memorial Award in 2022 and was a PAN Fellow Awardee in 2010—recognitions of his outstanding contributions to community nutrition. As a food chemist, he devoted his life to advancing programs such as food fortification, helping to reduce malnutrition in the Philippines and improve the lives of countless Filipinos.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his compassion, leadership, and service. We are deeply grateful for the life he shared with us and for the enduring impact of his work and legacy.

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ma'am Elvira B. Madronial (25 January 1952 — 23 May 2026).

Ma'am Elvira served with distinction as President of the PAN Cebu Chapter from 2008 to 2011 and continued to generously share her wisdom as a member of the Chapter’s Advisory Board until her passing. Her leadership, compassion, and steadfast commitment to the advancement of nutrition left an indelible mark on our organization and the wider community.

A devoted nutritionist and mentor, Elvira championed evidence-based practice, community nutrition programs, and professional development for colleagues and young practitioners. Her initiatives improved the lives of countless families across Cebu through sustainable nutrition education and capacity-building efforts.

We mourn the loss of a beloved leader, mentor, and friend. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and all who were touched by her compassion and service.

Rest in peace, Ma'am Elvira. Your dedication to nutrition and to the PAN Cebu Chapter will be remembered and cherished always.
