Today, we celebrate four successful interventional cardiac catheterization procedures with PDA device closure performed at Riverside Hospital, bringing renewed hope to children and families from Negros and Iloilo. 🙏❤️

For these children, a Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) was more than a medical diagnosis. It was a challenge their families carried—often with uncertainty, worry, and countless prayers.

But today, their stories have a new chapter. ✨

🎉 Four procedures. Four successful PDA closures. Four heart warriors one step closer to a healthier future.

We celebrate the courage of these children and their families who trusted the medical team and continued to believe that better days were possible.

A little heart warrior who faced a big journey far too early in life. Today, Liam is recovering after his successful open-heart surgery, surrounded by hope, prayers, and the love of his family. 🫶

Nobody talks about what a CHD diagnosis does to a marriage or relationship.

Not because love disappears. Because it gets buried under logistics.

One of you sleeps at the hospital. One of you goes home to the other kids. You start living parallel lives under the same roof, trading updates like shift workers instead of talking like partners.

You grieve differently, on different timelines, and sometimes that looks like distance instead of pain.

One of you wants to talk about it. One of you needs to not talk about it just to function today. Neither of you is wrong. You’re just surviving the same fire in different ways.

Date nights become a luxury you can’t justify when there’s a surgery to save for. Intimacy becomes something you’re both too exhausted to reach for. Arguments happen about things that have nothing to do with the real thing, because the real thing is too big to argue about directly.

Nobody warns you that surviving your child’s heart can quietly test your own.

And yet so many CHD couples make it through. Not because it was easy. Because somewhere in the hardest year of your life, you looked at each other in a hospital hallway and remembered you were still on the same side.

If your relationship has been stretched thin by this journey, you are not failing at marriage. You are surviving something most couples never have to face.

One of the hardest words a parent can ever hear is:

“There’s nothing more we can do.”

Sometimes, a child is diagnosed too late. The heart has become too weak. The lungs have suffered irreversible damage. Surgery is no longer possible.

Those words change a family’s life forever.

But for many children with congenital heart disease (CHD), it doesn’t have to end that way.

Right now, there is hope.
When a heart defect is found early, children have more treatment options, better outcomes, and a chance to grow up healthy.

❤️ More Heart Surgeries in the Philippines is Good News for Every Child with CHD

Every new investment in heart care gives families something priceless: hope.

Recently, Manila Doctors Hospital launched the country's first Philips 3.0 Azurion Biplane Fluoroscopy System with ClarityIQ technology, allowing doctors to perform more precise, safer, and faster minimally invasive heart procedures—even for children. The hospital also shared that the number of patients served and cardiac procedures has grown dramatically over the past 16 years.

🛡️ REAL SCAM ALERT: Protect Our Heart Families

Recently, one of our Let It Echo beneficiary families became the victim of an online scam.

The family shared that they received a phone call from someone who claimed to be connected with the office of Senator B**g Go. The caller sounded convincing and eventually asked for the family’s GCash One-Time Password (OTP). Believing the call was legitimate, the OTP was provided.

Within moments, all of the donations intended for their child’s heart treatment were transferred out of their GCash account by scammers.

We immediately advised the family to report the incident and have their GCash account blocked to prevent further unauthorized transactions.

💙 Please remember:
❌ Never share your OTP with anyone—not even someone claiming to be from GCash, a government office, a charity, or a public official.
❌ No legitimate organization or financial institution will ever ask for your OTP, MPIN, or recovery code.
✅ If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and verify through official channels before taking any action.

Ten children with different congenital heart defects—including Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), and Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)—were given a new chance at life during a successful pediatric cardiac mission held at Caraga Regional Hospital from June 28 to July 3. Through the expertise and dedication of the medical team from the Philippine Heart Center, these young heart warriors received the life-saving interventions they needed, bringing renewed hope not only to the children but also to their families who have carried the weight of uncertainty for so long.

This mission is a testament to what is possible when compassionate organizations come together with one purpose: to give every child the opportunity to live a healthier future. Let It Echo continues to stand beside families throughout their CHD journey—not only by helping connect them to medical care but also by providing emotional support, encouragement, and a community that understands. We are deeply grateful to our partners, the Rotary Club of Cebu and Gift of Life International, whose unwavering commitment continues to make these life-changing missions possible for children who would otherwise have limited access to specialized cardiac care.
