📌THAI BL & GL STARS ARE COMING TO MANILA FOR MNL FASHION WEEK!

MNL Fashion Week is back for its second edition, and this year’s runway is bringing some familiar faces from Thailand!

Several Thai BL and GL stars have been announced as part of the upcoming fashion event, including Boss Chaikamon of Love in the Air, Ngern Anupart and Oat Thanakorn of Fourever You, alongside the series’ director P’New Siwaj, as well as Toptap Jarukit and Minlee of Payback.

Adding more excitement to the lineup are GL stars Lookmhee and Sonya, bringing even more representation from Thailand’s booming BL and GL entertainment scene to Manila.

The four-day MNL Fashion Week will take place from September 3 to 6, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura Premier.

Filipino BL fans are increasingly speaking out online, urging event organizers and producers to provide a better, more fan-friendly experience at BL fanmeetings and concerts in the Philippines.

The discussion comes as fans raise concerns over ticket prices, event organization, merchandise, and fan benefits.

One major issue is cost. Some BL fanmeet tickets are reportedly priced as high as—or even higher than—tickets to major K-pop concerts and fanmeetings, despite offering fewer inclusions.

Fans have also criticized the huge gap between ticket tiers. While premium packages receive multiple perks and closer interactions, lower-tier fans sometimes get little more than an event poster, leaving them feeling overlooked despite still paying to attend.

The quality of official merchandise has also become a talking point. Some fans compare event posters and photocards with fanmade freebies and “tiangge” versions, saying unofficial items sometimes look more premium than what producers provide.

But perhaps the bigger question is: What went wrong with the Philippine BL event scene?

Since the pandemic, the Philippines has hosted numerous BL fanmeets featuring Thai and international artists. Despite having a massive BL audience, only a relatively small number of these events have actually sold out.

Are Filipino fans simply “broke,” or do they just know they deserve better?

Filipino fans have proven they are willing to spend when an event feels worth the price. But when ticket prices rise while benefits, merchandise quality, and organization fail to match, fans may simply choose not to spend.

The community isn't necessarily asking for cheaper events. They're asking for better value, thoughtful benefits, quality materials, proper organization, and a more inclusive experience across all ticket tiers.

At the end of the day, fans are customers—but they're also the reason these events exist.

So perhaps producers should ask: Are Filipino fans unwilling to spend, or are they simply waiting for an experience that deserves their money?
